They are doing water rescues at the terrace neighborhood off hwy 14 behind trampoline place(old conns/Kroger strip mall). Starting to get pretty bad in some spots.

Just woke up to no power downtown. Looks like mostly the Ryan St. corridor starting at Debakey all the way to 210.

Entergy estimates it'll be back by 6:30, we'll see.

it appears most of Iowa is underwater right now

i've seen some posts from that area of the Terrace and it looks bad

i live downtown and it's almost bone dry in the roads. i will say this again, the roads will with water with prolonged/heavy rain but if the rain stops for 20-30 minutes, the roads clear up pretty quickly

First signs of flooding in Lake Charles. A couple hundred people rescued over night. 4-500 homes flooded. Water now receding.

What's up with this? I don't see anything on Facebook/twitter/KPLC about rescues in LC outside of Kaylee's and CNN's tweets.

The national media coverage for the Harvey versus Katrina disasters are diametrically opposite. I recall during Katrina that every single major network had 24/7 coverage of Katrina for almost a week whereas with Harvey the coverage nationally is contained to the morning shows and the evening news. CNN was covering 24/7 the aftermath of New Orleans for over two months but I don't see that level of coverage this go around.

Do you think the public (outside the affected areas) has become obtuse to natural disasters and this is the reason the networks aren't covering this event like they used to or have internet based news outlets just taken over?

if i had to guess, that likely includes Iowa and/or a lot of streets with "General" in them

the flooding is really bad in both areas. it would not take much (in terms of size) to reach a couple hundred homes in the Terrace

Only thing I saw in the news last night about legion st was they closed the east exit ramp on 210 at legion... believe a reporter on the scene of the house rescues mentioned not being able to go down legion, but wasn't specific exactly where.

No problem, wish I could be more specific... Hopefully any family members you have over there aren't affected.
