Yes, Roger, that's what is called a failed business model.

Good. That will rush Automation.

Thats progress. Ditch diggers got replaced by machines, cashiers are being replaced by machines, warehousemen are being replaced by machines.

Low skill, uneducated people have no leverage. Thats on them.

These people are unemployable. Time to move on.

Maybe, but you have no evidence to back that up.

Automation is going to be huge Capex spending. Labor is an expense and a more controllable one at that.

Evidently not. In a time of full employment, they aren't.

Hang on though, the coming recession will probably reopen your unemployment benefits. The money machine will fire up again.

If they can’t afford more than 15/hr for pickers they can’t afford the capital outlay for automation.

if a business can't afford to go from 15 to 18 for a handful of warehouse pickers, they are truly fricked

Good. Maybe then they will offer decent paying jobs maintaining those machines. Or maybe not.

Yeah and cotton pickers got replaced by machines and oarsmen got replaced by engines and on and on throughout history. Somehow we always come out the other side with more human labor to do.

Great. Bump those offers and find some employable people.

you are referring to the real unemployment rate which factors in all job seekers and it only ticked up .1%.
which probably has a lot to do with people wanting more money due to inflation.

The unemployment rate stayed at 3.6% for both march and april.

The idea that these workers have no leverage but are simultaneously causing businesses to shut down because of their greediness is hilarious to me.

Not much leverage when you live in a homeless shelter and show up to the job interview with goodwill clothes that probably don’t fit I guess. Ya know, just so you can find a job and then later rent a place close to it to save on cost.
