Seems like we'd all be murdered by now with the way this board thinks setting foot in New Orleans or Baton Rouge is death sentence. Downvote if you've already been shot/stabbed to death or upvote if nothing has happened to you. I'll start with an upvote.

Live around Jefferson/Corporate and work downtown. Never seen a gun on the street or heard a gunshot. Never been the victim of a crime. In 15 years.

The worst crime that has ever taken place in Louisiana happened last Sunday.

shite goes down in that area all the time. You’re just lucky enough to have avoided it.

Agree with OP but you are either lying or extremely hard of hearing

Yea, frick not having crime. Why live in a nice state with no crime, low DOC populations, and allow funding to be allocated elsewhere?

I’d rather live in a state that until recently had the most crime and highest incarceration rate in the country.

If that doesn't turn out to be a domestic, I'm going to be shocked.

I've walked into a shootout before. 2005 off Franklin Avenue. Your day goes from, "I think I'm going to pick up some groceries", to taking cover.

Its easy to be at the wrong place at the wrong time in Louisiana.

When you consider the fact that a large percentage of posters here are from BR/NOLA, and they typically rank highly when it comes to crime statistics, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for it to be a constant topic of discussion.

That’s why you should get your CC permit and always carry.

I've lived in the BR metro 38 of 41 years, granted about half of that in the burbs. I've never seen a shooting or been a victim of a violent crime. I've had my vehicle burglarized a few times around LSU and have heard gunshots off in the distance a few times in BR.

Three shootings this month right off LSU's campus in an area that has been considered safe for decades.
