If it does pop off, it will be State vs Federal officials in a standoff that sets things into motion.
For an example I'll use Texas:
*Biden signs executive order that's extremely unpopular (vaccine mandates? gun confiscation? etc) in red country
*Texas governor announces that he refuses to enforce said order
*Biden subverts the state authority and sends Federal enforcement agents
*Texas government issues arrest warrants for these Federal agents
*Biden sends additional Feds to arrest the Governor/Attorney General/State Reps/whoever
*either hundreds of armed Texans, or the Texas NG/Rangers gather to protect anyone from arrest
*standoff ensues
*either Biden or Texas backs down, or this hypothetical standoff ends up with lead flying. If the latter:
-Some red state governments order their NG/Police to "assist" Texas, some blue state governments order theirs to assist the Feds
-pocket regions in these states, like entire counties/cities of people who don't agree with their own state governments, start doing things to hinder the others sides' logistics
And then just like that, the circus begins to take shape.
I'd say such a flash point in the age of social media could develop in weeks if not days.
