317 people shot every month
47 people killed every month

With 55 shootings and five deaths, the weekend in Chicago was particularly bloody, so much so that Sunday marked itself as having the most shootings in a single day in over a year.
quote:
Friday rang in with nine shootings and one death at around 3 PM. One of the shooting incidents included no less than three victims in the same incident.
Saturday brought two more gangland shooting deaths and one police-involved shooting. But the day also saw 21 shootings total, of which one incident included four victims and three other incidents, which included two victims each.

But it was Sunday that brought out the worst gunfire, with a whopping 33 shootings and five more deaths.

The bloody weekend raises the odious totals to 2,218 citizens shot this year thus far, with 330 shot and killed.

Southside Chicago is rough, other parts of the city are really nice

Only if you live in the bad side of Chicago. The rest of it is actually pretty nice.

Not even top 30
It's a huge city. It's going to have a higher raw number of people killed just based on sheer numbers.

Detroit, St. Louis, New Orleans, and Oakland seem to have worse stats in the US.
Caracas is the worst in the world.

Chester, PA is always high on these types of lists. Why is that? Anyone ever been there?

I'm in Old Town and can honestly say that I have never felt threatened or unsafe once.

There or Flint or Detroit.... Horrible places that are gang infested crime riddled cities. Poverty everywhere in those two places. At least Chicago has some good things like the lake and downtown is pretty decent. Detroit or Flint has none of this.

I've been to Chicago a bit and I don't think I ever even saw thugs once. Big cities like that can keep riff raff away.

Detroit is not as bad as it was 5-6 years ago. Chicago's downtown/north side scene is much better than decent.

Desert Hot Springs is an interesting one. Small city, very poor and in the middle of the desert.
Only two Western areas listed, both in SoCal.
