It's pretty common for at least the "top" anchors to stay. That's why most stations have 50+ year olds holding it down during the week and you'll see the 20 year olds working weekends and holidays.
I know certain cities the main sports guys never leave. OKC had Bob Barry before he passed away, Baton Rouge with Jacques, Pittsburgh with Bob Pompeani/Alby Oxenreiter. Usually it's their home and they have no reason to leave - because most of the time they can find other opportunities.
