They don't want the city or location in to be identified because they don't want to draw attention or have people hunt the crawfish.

But it's an invasive species that must be eliminated.

Make up your damn minds.

Damn yankees drive me nuts with that name.

No way any of those yanks would eat a "crayfish". That's just fish bait to them.

The news anchor: "If just looking at a red swamp crayfish makes your stomach turn a little bit, well wait until you hear about the damage that it could do right here in Michigan."

It's more so that someone doesn't come take some to transplant and stock another location.

Edit:

They may just end up with an invasive species fight to the death...

As bad as Red Swamp Crawfish have been in places, I don't think they are nearly as bad as Zebra Mussels. (picture is not a Red Swamp Crawfish)

Okay that makes more sense. It just seemed like they were saying that they don't want outsiders trying to help at all.

It's some crawfish species covered in Zebra Mussels.

In the news video in the link posted they compared the potential ecological disaster/damage from Red Swamp Crawfish to be on the scales of Zebra Mussels or Phragmites (Roseau cane/Common Reed), which I'm suggesting it will not be as devastating.

There are crawfish in the lakes in the wind river range of Wyoming. I have no idea if they're some native species or brought there by the hundreds of Gulf Coast folks working in the gas fields.

People are going to come across one, bring it home, boil it and then it is?
