Interior Painting - what sheens?

Going to be re-painting my interior walls, ceilings, and trim work of my home to sell.
Is this the typical sheen for each?
Ceilings - Flat
Walls - Satin
Trim - Semi-Gloss
Just want to make sure before I go crazy buying paint.

Whatever you do don't use flat finish for your walls, especially if you have young kids and/or dogs.

oil base gloss or semi on the woodwork because it flows out to a nice shine, and holds up much better than latex
latex flat on the walls if you won't be getting hand prints on them. semi-gloss latex can be cleaned, but touch-ups won't blend. Flat can't be cleaned very well, but touches up nicely

Flat on ceiling and Semi gloss on trim is pretty standard.
If you go flat or matte on the walls touch up is easier but it's harder to clean than semi gloss. Semi gloss also shows the imperfections in the wall a lot more due to increased sheen.
IMO eggshell is the best of both worlds, decent touch up, washable and hides imperfections. It's the happy medium.
But to each their own.
And get high quality paint, it makes a difference.

This as well. But oil based paint is harder to get now due to VOC restrictions.

i rather eggshell on walls in case of touchups. It's easier to blend eggshell than satin or semigloss

Do yourself a favor and DON'T skimp on the paint. Sherwin Williams is the way to go. They routinely offer 30%-40% off and it comes out to about the same price as buying paint from one of the big box stores. MUCH better quality too!

Sherwin Williams Pro Classic oil-based paint is easy to find. It's like sixty bucks a gallon. It is also harder to work with if you are novice, so you might want to look at their Pro-Classic latex enamels. It is designed for trim.

This. The Sherwin Williams ProClassic trim paint is the way to go. It a little more expensive but it's easy to work with, doesn't leave brush/roller marks at all and is durable as all get out. We have a 3 year old Beagle that's wild has hell and his nails haven't done a lick of damage on our baseboards. We went semi-gloss pure white and couldn't be happier.

My advice: use a washable flat/matte on your walls. Best of both worlds.

make sure you keep every color and type of paint to it's own space. Or mark with marker and piece of tape, what it is.
I had a buddy who put the rest of 2 semi gloss paint cans into a half empty flat bucket. He leaves it with the rest of the Flat buckets(used and full). I went next day to finish the living room, sprayed that shite on.
came back and the glare from the lights was almost blinding. I was like holy shite, what the frick??? Didn't find out what happened till a couple days later. Thought paint company screwd me over.
