Read the whole thing. Some of if it was hard to believe. The fact that the guy had a 50k watt taser shows that he had some secrets. One claim is that his dad has connections to Saddam and he was transferring funds to a Swiss bank account. Years later hè tries to access it and then this happens. You would think you were reading a book the way this stuff is laid out. Mind blowing.

Yea but the choice of gun makes me think otherwise. Who knows maybe he is a sentimental hit man but a 60+ year old Luger is not something I see a hit man using.

Yes. That's insane. Every lead came up empty. The only question I have were the daughters asked what they saw? The girl was beaten with the rifle butt so the guy had to walk up to her.

I just thought about that as well. I'm sure they were.

Makes me wonder, if you are going to shoot the girl in the shoulder and then bash her in the head, why not finish her off? Seems like the guy was a good enough shot to kill her in the one shot, if he had waneed to. He must have had on a mask, so wasn't worried she'd identify him. So this makes me think he was there to specifically kill someone. I'd think a random psychopath would just off everyone at the scene. Who knows though.

That's some crazy shite.

I think the campground owner is behind it all. Damn Iraqis were bad for his business.

But, 2 cleans shots each to the head seems pretty professional to me.

Yeah but the weapon in question was a pistol, not a rifle. I don't care how much of a marksman someone is-a pistol is a highly inaccurate weapon unless you are at close range. Which meant the killer had go get in close amongst them. Which leads one to believe that one or more of the victims knew him. Or that the killer appeared unthreatening.

What really interests me about this case is not what was said in the article, but what was unsaid. For example, what do we know of the Swiss banker that the husband was going to be dealing with at the end of the trip? How much might have he known about their personal lives? Might the brother have known about the wife's previous marriage and arranged for it to look like an honor killing? Might the brother have spoken to the banker and made a deal? That pistol used in the murders was only issued to the Swiss, German, and Finnish army until the late 1940s. Might it have been passed down to grandfather to son to grandson?

Agreed, and I guess that goes back to the unclear picture the article gives about the specifics of the gunmen's maneuvers, proximity, etc. I'd have to read it again, but I remember them explaining it like he just kind of came out of the woods, and did it really quick.

All very interesting questions that may never get answered.

It sounded like he shot the cyclist first, while coming out of the woods, then the dad who was able to get into the car. The Iraqi dad was able to get into the car and get it into gear before dying, but the car didn't get far (got stuck or hung up on an obstacle). Then he could have probably killed the two women in the car at close range, while also double-tapping the two men to make sure. The car was still running with tires spinning when discovered.

There was also some discrepancy about the order they were shot. The investigator said that they might never know for sure without finding the shooter.

Unless the older daughter was a reliable witness and could say how it all went down, but I doubt that.

I came back to this thread to send the article to link to a friend.

So I'll bump it with this thought.

The dad jumped in the car without one the daughter who was pistol whipped.

Either he's the world's shittiest father, or he knew the gunman was specifically targetting him.

Good point. I just read it, very interesting story. The French biker and the Arab engineer both have possible reasons to be killed......
