I always wonder where articles/graphics like this get their data.

very interesting stuff...kind of odd that a number of the items listed seem to be contradictory, though(i.e. should have saved more money Vs. Should have worked less and focused on family more)...

Not necessarily, you can save early and save often. You don't need to work all the time just to save money

As someone who has lived a few years, these are all very true. It's just hard to follow these guidelines when you are younger because you don't have the perspective that being older gives you. When you get older, this list makes perfect sense.

so wait, people regret working too much to enjoy life more, but also should have saved more for retirement?

I think the variable there is spending. If you don't want to work as much, but still want to save up enough for retirement, you don't need the shiniest new TV, gaming system, etc. every year?

Just die young and you won't have to worry about any of this

assuming this line of thinking is true, that would just shatter the economy and we'd all have much shittier lives

exactly...I think the point of these contradictions is, that one's life should be balanced...swinging to one extreme or the other always leads to regret...

Happiness is a choice

I firmly believe this. I am an extremely happy guy and I choose everyday when I wake up to put myself in a good mood. There are days where I have to fake it until it happens, but attitudes are contagious. I would rather choose to be happy, than let the world put me in default pissed off mode like the average person.

The main one on that list is to confront the ones who you have resentment with and try to explain why you are resentfull. If they don't care, let it go and try to have peace with yourself and forgive them in your heart. If you ever want to be miserable, try hating someone. Worry and hate bring on disease. It is a fact that any good doctor will tell you. And to all the O-T Lounge people reading this.... I love you man...
