The shot fricking hurts. There are a ton of nerve endings in your toes plus the added pressure from the infection makes the area extra sensitive to pain. That needle freaking hurts

Have six bones snap and then do catastrophic nerve damage and come to me bitching about pain. That shot was nothing in comparison to that. Not even a hundreth. Someone stepping on your ingrown toenail is way more painful than that.

Those are called french tips. You're paying extra for that.

You have to get the bur out or it will just get worse

This. If you try to cut it out yourself, you should feel a drastic amount of relief once you get the burr out. Otherwise you didn’t get it all out.

Made this mistake once. Nothing like thinking you fixed it only to figure out the hard way that your ingrown toenail is now an inaccessible spike with a sharp tip.

If it's not too far gone, you can roll up a tiny piece of cotton and push it under that corner of the nail to pull it up.

Soak the piece of cotton in alcohol first….not the kind you drink either….. By the way, cutting a v in the mail doesn’t work….

Like the others said it’s worth going to a doctor to fix it permanently. He did mine so that it wouldn’t grow back and that was almost 20 years ago. No problems since then. My only regret was not doing the big toe on my other foot.

Had them on both sides of both big toes for years. Nasty and hurt like hell at times. Had the "in office" procedure performed several times. They hurt and never worked. Finally went to an orthopedic surgeon and he took care of them for good with minimal pain.

Just mentioned to my buddy that the removal by the podiatrist was one of the best decisions I ever made. It’s been about 3 years, and it has been great. The shot stings for a moment, but it goes completely numb after 30 seconds. I believe it was 0.5% bupiv—if it has epi in it, it will last longer. Phenol will kill the specific part of the nailbed that causes the ingrown issue.
I watched a video of the Toe Bro to get an idea of what the procedure would be like. Good luck!!

They make special bandages that you can wear for a short time that will separate the edge of the nailbed from the nail. Looks like a regular old bandaid, but it has a thick rubber mat where the usual pad would be, with a thick ridge down one side. It hurts, but you have to push that ridge into the edge, then pull it tight as you stick the adhesive piece on the rest of your toe. Wear that for an hour or two, and as soon as you remove it be ready to trim the ingrown part as far back as you can and pull it out.

Just dig them out and clip them. I do it a couple times a year.

Douse them in the strongest isopropyl you have available after.

Ehhh... everyone is different. For the most part, it works if done deep enough.

That's what I thought. I ended up with 2 infected toenails. Had to get half of my toenails cut off.

I had them bad on both sides of my big toes. I had all four removed when I was a senior in high school because of the constant pain. Surgery for me was a breeze and little to no downtime. I had one removed on a Thursday morning and played a football game Friday night. frick trying to dig them out, just go to the podiatrist and have them surgically removed or they will come back.

make a little ball of tissue paper and slip it between your nail and the skin where it is most sensitive. This will help separate the two and let the nail grow away from your skin. 100% this will help.

Podiatrist
Two shots.
Twenty minutes later very sharp scissors. Then a swab with some nail bed killing stuff on it. Two weeks later you'll be OK. And actually you will feel better the next day. You won't feel a thing.

Just go see a podiatrist.

Had them when I was a teenager. Basically had to numb my toe and then cut the nail to dig the in grown part. Had a few of them. Sucked.

Dr visit bro.

They’ll put some acid on that section of the nail to kill it. Had it done with both big toes. My nail looks a little smaller if you sit and stare, but overall unnoticeable.

I used to get them a lot when I was a teenager. My cousins would hold me down and cut them out. Probably not the best way to go about it.

Go get a Pedicure. Let them small handed ladies resolve your problem. It'll hurt like hell but better than having the doctor cut it out. Then once its fixed go see the small handed ladies twice a year. You'll never get another one again.

I had one years ago and it hurt so bad I cut it out myself. I now have toe fungus on the toe I cut it out of. If was doing it over would probably just go to dr. to get them to take care of it. But I got it all never came back.
