That bull shite. We used to go to brunch downtown and there was a magician occasionally at the brunch and he would do the write your name on a card trick to random people in the restaurant. He even used my dad as a volunteer one time. You think he secretly got my dad in on the trick and then my dad kept the secret his whole life?
Yes.
Same thing happened to me in Vegas. Magician pulled me aside beforehand and asked me to help him out with the trick. I told him the name and it played out to perfection. Pretty simple.

any trick that requires someone writing their name on a card, or drawing some sort of picture, like this one, the person doing the writing, or whatever, is in on the trick... how is this not common knowledge yet?
Chapelle may be in on this trick, but the tricks you're discussing are usually handled by an assistant or by some sort of fingertip pen. If they ask you to show the card to the audience or to the magician, they're copying it as soon as they're done.

For some of the tricks he has a piece of lead on the end of his finger and when they say the name they were thinking he'll say something right after to stall for a second and at the same time he's writing the name.
His card tricks are on-point though. The ones he did to Froot Loops and the Dallas Cowboys and out in Compton and in New Orleans were sick.

You're wondering how a magician pulled off a trick on a recorded TV show?

I haven't seen any David Blaine magic in about a decade but remember being impressed by most of it. I also remember the South Park episode when his magic was much more advanced that Jesus' (everyone see this water here, now look away for just a bit, look everyone, it's wine!).
I recall David Blaine saying that he got a children's magic book when he was a kid and started doing magic for his parents and their friends. Some of the adults naturally knew the 'trick' instantly and he became interested in learning tricks that they couldn't figure out. That interest apparently continued over time and now his tricks can be mind blowing.
I remember getting a Disney magic book when I was about 10 years old and doing tricks for adults also. My interest only lasted for about a month though and I moved on to other things.

Search for Stevie Starr "The Regurgitator" videos on YouTube. He made it far on America's Got Talent in 2015. He makes the Blaine trick look like child's play. He could swallow several items and then pull them up in any order on demand. The Blaine twist was getting the person to name a frog as the animal but he did that through some leading comments.

Yep. He said to name an animal that fits in he palm of your hand. That automatically limits the pool of animals. There are maybe 5 or 6 animals that 99% of the population would name if asked to name an animal that fits in the palm of our hand.
With a few subtle phrases, he could probably entice an unsuspecting person to name a frog 9/10 times.

I think that he swallowed two frogs. The third was pulled out of his shirt (or something like that) when he bent over. It was the only point where he obscured his hands and midsection.

He has a special on Netflix that shows how he learned the trick.
He simply swallows then and then pukes them back up when he needs to.
On the special he only uses gold fish. Frogs are a nice effect.

I'd be frickin giddy if they'd hit me up to be "in" on it, and then BOOM!

He has to drink a lot of water before swallowing frogs. The real trick is getting them to say frog! Instead of fish or turtle. He must mention frogs in conversation before hand to get them to go there first.

He shoved them up his arse and they traveled through his digestive track. You really dont get how he did this?

He likely got names from the restaurant staff.

If you watch the video, he grabs a glass and shows it, and then goes and puts it away and grabs a different glass full of water. The glass has some kind of weird mirror or something that give you the illusion that he drank the water when he was just swallowing the frog that was already in the "glass of water".
