50's were a great time to grow up in America from all the stories I've heard of from people who lived through those years.

I think I'd also be a serial killer. Seems like it'd be easy enough to get away with back then.

this is exactly where my mind went as well. I'd hate to have to deal with big giant unkept bush all the time.

A well kept bush is fantastic IMO.

My father grew up in the 50s and the stories he tells make it seem like an awesome time.

The first thing I would do is open up an investment firm. Write books predicting the future and shite. Playboy & Hustler would never get as big as they did because I would start my own nudie mag, etc

The issue would be getting money. Only the OT ballers keep loads of cash in there pajamas. You walk around in your PJs asking for money? The 50s weren't down with bums. However, once I got on my feet a little, I'd take the world by storm.

Always a good bet to go with the Yankees. Then when the Super bowls kick in I'd win it every year. Secretariat? Yes please.

As an ER physician, the 50s were dark ages in terms of resuscitating patients. The 70s began a revolution (trauma patients) with simple pathways and devices that would be really easy to invent. I'd start 20 years early and make enough to then start bankrolling with stocks (Wal-Mart, McDonalds, Coke, Nike, Microsoft, etc). Then I'd spend the rest of my days making LSU football gods amongst men (Phil Knight and Oregon would be envious)

"On 'Cold Case Files' they solve old murders and it's really interesting. What I learned from it is that it was really easy to get away with murder before they knew about DNA... What was a murder investigation like in 1935? One cop would just walk in and be like, 'Detective, we found a pool of the killer's blood in that hallway.' He would just be like, 'Hmmm, gross. Mop it up. Now then, back to my hunch. Look for clues. I'll tell you what we'll do; we'll draw chalk around where the body is, that way we'll know where it was."

Other than dealing with 70% of the people smoking, I would be happy there, have always wished I had been born 10 years earlier. The one thing I would not miss, the internet, books ruled!

Was the draft still on in the 50's? The Korean war and such?

I would absolutely love it. Simpler times and less headaches. Time to visit with family and love ones. Work by the hour instead of salary with 90 hours of work expected. Would miss very little about today.
