If you owned your own pullman cars, could you hire a train engine?

Saw a Pawn Stars on in the background. Had two mint Pullman cars decked out wanted $1M for both.

Was wondering if one could afford it, can you just pay UP or CN to haul you around?

You'd need permission from the railroad owner also to use the tracks.

I always assumed companies paid the rail companies to use the tracks. How else would they make money?

Majority of the time the RR's own the tracks.

Seems like I have seen cars within trains that have private company names on them.

Why do you not own your own train engine?

Are you OT poor?

right. But I would think if you hired the freight hauler they would handle that. For instance by me the tracks are Union Pacific, Canadian Northern and New Orleans Public Belt.

Better question could you be attached to a cargo train?

Came to me that I think having a private train car would be cool as hell.

Though I already decided if i hit the lottery I want a private Steam paddlewheel.

why the frick would you want to spend $1M on a train car when you could own a plane for that and get where you're going much faster?

The way I understand it, is they pay for use, so say I am a United Pacific train. I need to travel on my UP company tracks and then CN tracks and then BSF. I would think they either have a use deal hashed out or a fee per car/ton or time on track.

I knew a chick that was a Pullman car traveler. Now the brakeman won't have her.

why the frick do people buy yachts when planes are faster?

Maybe you like trains. IDK

Personally I want an old riverboat, an old amphibious plane and I am set (if I were a baller)

Well, I know that Kansas City Southern owns a lot of the track around BR. UP has an agreement with them for track use. From what I know it is a per car/mile based fee.

Seems like I remember seeing on some show that you can legally hook up to the back of any Amtrak train in America for free. Not sure about that, though.

a yacht is a leisurely luxury item. A plane, although luxury if private, is a means of transportation.

which category do you think a train fulls under

-means of transport
-or- leisure luxury item

Thanks Less Miles.

So the easiest and best way is Amtrak.

Could probably get food too.

Would be awesome to have a $500k pullman car.

I see what you mean. If they have rights to use the track I assume they can tow whatever they want within regulations.
