And, just for the record, the Army does everything the other services do. The Army has more aircraft than the air force, more boats than the navy and has conducted more amphibious operations than the USMC. We've rebuilt countries (after destroying them pretty thoroughly), toppled dictators and defended democracy in every corner of the planet. The Air Force makes coffee. The Navy makes waves. The Marine Corps makes headlines. The Army makes history. Be...all that you can be.

This is why a military thread is always interesting. Different branches fighting for the same cause all while maintaining a thorough disdain for one another.

If you're looking at potentially staying in longer than your first term, do not go to the Air Force. Seriously.

^This. The Navy has been very good to us, sir.

Don't misinterpret my comments, though. While I may show some outward sibling rivalry (and the Army is the superior branch, I stand by that - if you could only have one branch, it would be us) - I've earned the right to rag on wing wipers, squids and jarheads (as they have earned the right to rag on me).

Civilians shouldn't attempt this at home. Just like brothers, we will band together quite quickly in response to an external attack.

What ever you do, don't talk to an enlistment recruiter ...at all! Talk to an officer recruiter.

Also, Air Force and it's not even close.

Join the Sea Org. L Ron Hubbard seems like a good match for you.

That is impossible to have someone tell you without information about what you are looking for. What do you want from your service and rank those things in order of preference to you.

but just be forewarned that I dont care and may find some of them humorous.
A sense of humor is required for long term health in the military. Jokers tend to do well in the USMC

Do you know what you want in terms of lifestyle? job? work schedule? career opportunities?

If you are chill and laid back I would highly recommend Air Force or Coast Guard...However if you want rewarding experiences that you have to work harder for USMC or Navy

I would never join the Army personally. However they do have a large workforce(promotions) and budget(renlistment bonuses)...so every branch has different perks and things to offer.

I have retired from the Army, but 2 years ago when I was still in, you wouldn't believe how many airmen were wanting to re-enlist but couldn't because of the Air Force's numbers.

culling the herd. true.

I think the dude is only interested in the school and training.

My cousin joined the Navy a couple of years ago. He left for basic training two weeks after graduating from high school. He became a gunners mate and is stationed in Japan. He has done some cruises to Guam, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Malaysia. Spent time in the South China Sea watching what ol Kim Jong Un might do. Loves every minute of it.

Point is that if you want to travel, I would say the Navy is the way to go, followed by the Air Force. The only traveling you'll be doing with the Army and Marines are to shithole Arab countries.

You get to play with boats, airplanes, and guns, but most of the time the other guy is not returning fire.

The navy has a nuclear engineering program that is money. They will train you, put you to work getting valuable experience, and then pay you to stay on.

If you're single and looking for experience and direction, this would be my choice. I have a distant relative that did this with an environmental engineering degree. She's making bank at a production engineer position now that she's out of the military and constantly having recruiters call her for her experience.

So, the Air Force. They don't get laid at all.

Success. Scruffy insulted every TD member of the armed forces.
