ignoring anything about effort or attitude, people of ability aged 35-ish and younger are completely fricked by the simple reality of opportunities presented to them
the biggest is the debt and future government liabilities, which they have not had much (if any) power to influence and have received very small benefits from. they will be burdened with an insane amount of debt created by the boomers (and now Gen X) that is going to simply be devastating. medicare, interest, and SS alone have been projected to possibly require 25% of the future GDP. think about that noose
there are other issues, like the lack of economic opportunities in the face of rampant inflation (again, based on policies of the boomers and Gen X that millennials have had no ability to influence). The cost of living has out-paced entry-level work, and promotion opportunities are simply less available because the older generations are working longer (mostly due to their personal debtloads which, again, have created massive inflation).
then there is student loan debt, which is another major issue. the policies of the boomers and Gen X have completely inflated the price of college to an insane degree while re-forming the working world in a way that requires a college degree (and further, often). so the boomers/X created this mythical barrier to entry while enacting policies making that barrier to entry insanely expensive (because they LOVE inflation. it's their BAE)
just imagine these things as taxes that the millenials have to bear that no other generation before them had to bear. would you have a positive outlook on the world if you knew that you were burdened with insane "tax" that you had no voice in creating, have no power to stop, and are told that you're an immoral and selfish person for questioning it?
Bravo!!!I couldnt said it better myself. The worse part is they still have that same consumer mentality. They want the newest cars, new boats, motocycles, and homes they can't afford at the age of 50+. They keep digging their selves into deeper holes creating more debt and will have to work to the day they die. Meanwhile we are becoming more dependent on public transportation, riding bikes to work, getting roommates, and avoid buying stupid thing like diamonds all in a effort to save and plan for a future. We can't even get the loans to buy a home, car, or start a business if we wanted to due to the banks blaming us for their frick ups. They even needed the government to bail them out of one of the biggest frick up in US history. They then spent decades calling them selves the greatest generation and patting their self on the back.

and what exactly do you think is going to happen with the millennials taking out 120K student load debt (not depth get a fricking dictionary) that they will never be able to pay back. Same fricking boat just a different captain, but now you want to be bailed out and college should be free. I was born in 1983 so unfortunately I am connected to the millennial generation. I took out loans to go to college I graduated and was saddled with that debt, but I busted my arse in a job that I despised because there were no opportunities when I graduated in 2007 and within 6 years I had paid off my student loans. I work now for a job that I like that affords me the opportunity to make money and to move up the corporate ladder. No one in this world gives two shits about your feelings and your social awareness, you wanted a job that pays you a comfortable salary, then guess what you have to produce results and make a name for yourself. No one is going to hand you anything and the sooner you and the others with the same mindset learn that, you might actually start to make some headway is this shite show called life.

Your college was cheaper, your start off pay was higher vs cost of living, and your retirement/health benefits were better/may not be now thanks to the boomers than those getting out now. Let's just blame the millenials anyway for complaining about the shite situation they inherited.
I'd be all for free college, but if you want the government to control how college is paid for, then they also get to control what you study. No more underwater basket weaving or feminist garbage degrees. People are going to learn useful shite that gets a return on investment.

I will be honest. I am doing very well, if you knew me personally, you would know I have two houses, one primary and one rental. Both in very desirable neigherhoods on the northshore.
I plan to retire at 59.5. Unlike your generation I dont mind working. I have two kids, nice cars, nice savings and a fat 401k.
All 100% honest. Its not OT rich but I am set.

I did not blame all millennials, just the ones that think the world owes them something that they haven't earned. I graduated in December 2007 and I was laid off from the full time job I worked when I was in college two weeks after graduation and entered into a job market that was pretty bare and still busted arse and paid off the debt I took on to better myself. I walked into the same shite they did and bucked up and made it through. The world is an evil bitch and doesn't give two shits about anyone's feelings. If you feel like you should make more money and have a better job then go out there and work for it and stop bitching about it.

I didnt go when college was cheap by any means but i only got a few k left on my loans down from a little over 20k. I also missed the hand out of the tops scholarship as well but you know what i did instead of accumulating a ton of loans i joined the military. Then i went back to college. I didnt have parents to pay my way and i didnt want a mountain of loans so i made a choice. No one says you have to go to college right out of high school. Take a few years off work, join the military earn some money then go back if needed. Life's about choices !!

there are enough Pussies in all three generations to take the blame

i just think it's very hard to blame structural defects created over decades on the group who is just now graduating from college and starting careers. they have no real political power. they have very little political representation. they have not yet been able to gain economic power.
and they face a TOUGH road ahead

The beauty of this debate is that 20 years from now, another generation will be in their 20's saying the exact same things to the millennialis that is being said to gen xers in this thread.
Your generation ruined us!
You little punks don't know shite!

Read an article over the summer, that average Gen X has more money saved for retirement than the average working Baby Boomer.

Don't blame college debit on us. You signed the paper. Tip from all us Gen Xers... read what you sign. You didn't have to take on all that debit. You could have gone to a C.C. or taken classes as you could afford them. Don't blame us because you wanted everything now damn the cost.
If you want someone to blame for high education costs look to the Gov't.
