I'd take Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio. I wouldn't pick a single Southern state because I know they'd join the fight on their own.

That's the real question though. Do we have the full loyalty of these populations? So many unanswered variables.

A states with a productive population. Unfortunately none of those are in the south. I think more about what happens after the invasion.

I like your strategic thinking on this set of choices.

Not mentioned but also important - there are lots of mountains and canyons to hide out in through most of the area, plus swamps in LA.

Colorado would be my game changer...having NORAD/Cheyenne Mountain is an advantage I think a lot of people overlook

Probably already stated (didn't read whole thread)

TX, LA, MS, AL and FL

Continuous. Control the Gulf with access to the Atlantic. Well armed. Good people.

Correct. The most populated States (urban) would probably be worthless in an invasion.

Shortsighted much?

American industry is still firmly rooted in the midwest. You'd need a state that could manufacturer the goods of war.

Personally, I'd choose Illinois because of access to the Great Lakes and Chicago is a financial center. Big population.

Grain. You have to feed those troops. Now you need another midwest state. No homer pick. I'd choose Ohio because it's #3 in manufacturing and has ample farming and livestock. Big population.

Texas. Easy pick for multiple reasons. Population. Military bases. Access to the gulf. Oil.

Virginia. Norfolk naval base. Large population. Chesapeake Bay. Military bases.

Florida. Population. Eglin Air Force Base. Pensacola naval base. Access to Gulf coast and Atlantic ocean. Toughest one to pick but now I have air power, naval power, a trained army and a way to feed them and arm them. I also have 25% of the nations population and control one of the largest financial centers in the world. Connecting the dots could be tough but in most instances I'm going through states with lesser populations or skipping over them altogether by using the sea to connect Florida, Virginia and Texas.

1) Louisiana. I can't remember if we have more guns or more bullets per capita than anyone, but we have a lot.

2) Texas. A lot of people in Texas. A good number of them don't suck.

3) Mississippi. Not a bad group as a whole. And I would imagine they are just as armed as we are.

4) Alabama. For all the shite we give each other, once you take away the meth, they aren't bad guys.

5) Georgia. They provide us with access to the Atlantic.... And they are close enough to where we should be able to get south Carolina. Which is who we really wanted anyways

I agree OP and we get Florida by proxy.

I feel like it's crazy to leave out California. Sheer numbers and it's location on the coast add so much. The state is pretty divided between red and blue, and Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and San Diego are great areas for trade. I think between a triangle of California, Texas, and Colorado, you could take over the entire West.

Me too. The liberals are concentrated in the coastal cities.
They'll be the first to fall to the enemy.

After that, you have conservative folks living in the interior. You could use the Sierras as a natural barrier if the invasion was coming from the coast. Eastward I would go for Arizona,New Mexico and hookup w/Southern states.

I definitely would rethink concentrating a rebel army where there is limited resources.

Louisiana as home base - we gucci

1. Texas - SF units and a lot of military personnel
2. Alabama - lots of military infrastructure from rockets to ship building
3. Florida - Panhandle shite
4. North Carolina
5. California - Between here and NC we'd have a shite ton of Marines, Army, other military personnel, and more SF units

Colorado would be the first state I'd want to have if possible outside of these and could swap CO with Alabama

Only problem with New York is that if stuff went downhill the rest of the state would amputate everything south of Westchester.

Upstate and downstate are completely different. One is very red and the other very blue.

Upstate New York has much more in common with New England and Penn. then NYC.

If aliens are invading Louisiana and Mississippi, then they've probably already won the war.

I don't think there's any SF in CA or TX although CA does have SEALS.

I'd just take Mississippi. Any other state would just be dead weight and get in the way. I'd also kick oxford out of MS. Too many yuppies.
