Ideas on how to run a baseball tourney when stuck with 5 teams in each division

We usually do pool play of two games and then reseed but with only 5 teams in each division, I'm kind of in a mess.

Normal format:

2 pool play games
Reseed for single elimination - guarantee of 3 games

Any ideas? We can't absorb the additional costs for the extra games a round robin would create for umpires.

2 teams play. 2 other teams play. The two winners play. The winners play. The winner plays the other team. The best team wins. Then the best losers play.

Then the losers play the winners. Then the championship, and the winners play the losers.

Prepare to get bitched at for whatever decision you make. "They" all know how to run tournaments better than you.

2 divisions

Really can't marry the two but I may have no choice.

It would work great but I'm trying to separate the have's from the have nots.

11U and 12U together will make the 11U coaches bitch.

Pool play Saturday with #1 seed getting a bye in Sunday Bracket?

Sunday
#2 v #5
#3 v #4
#1 plays winner of #3 v #4

Or make 4 & 5 seed play into the bracket on Sunday

5 team bracket
#4 v #5 winner plays #1
#2 v #3

After the two pool play games, have a play in game for the 0-2 teams to play the overall #1 seed.

Tie breakers for overall #1 seed is Head to head, then Runs scored in pool play then margin of victory, after that...coin flip.

Tie breakers if more than 2 0-2 teams is the same.

Way too complicated. Just do a draw for the pool play and have #4 and #5 seeds play into the #1 seed:

Why is it hard?

Pool play is
1-5
2-4
3-5
1-4
2-3

Then you seed after pool

With
Game 1-4 seed vs 5 seed
Game 3-Winner plays 1seed

Game 2- 2 seed vs 3 seed

Then
Game 2 winner vs game 3 winner

It's nothing out the ordinary

Thinking maybe pool play threw him off with odd number of teams

Because bracket is always clear cut.
