It's an engineering marvel, no doubt. But the Earth is gonna do what it wants.

Video of the magma bubbling is cool.
The earth, at it's core, is still just a bubbling ball of molten lava. I heard Elon say on a Rogan podcast that Earth is like a Creme Brulee with a thin crusty layer but molten below that.

I watched that volcano and immediately had the same thoughts as a 13 year old boy, mumbled FML under my breath, and refocusing my energy on these here burger patties I’m cooking for my football peeps.

Several decades ago, I vacationed in Iceland, before it was discovered.
I had sprained my right ankle but I was the only one of us who could drive the stick shift VW. Car tire went very flat near where the quakes are. We hobbled up to a house, we were welcomed warmly by the engineer and his wife and children. My German matched theirs from their time in Germany earning his degree. He was into geothermal exploration and development ("when we drill for thermal we get water and most of our water wells find lots of heat.")

I hope this is west of them, they were building their house as they lived in it and could afford the additional materials.

Like Hawaii, Iceland was formed via volcanic activity. It straddles 2 plates as the fault between runs pretty much in the middle of the island.

Yea. The reason for the worry here is the magma intrusion is right up underneath a town that’s near the capital city and it could be explosive I.E not just lava seeping out but an actual violent explosion
