I would like your opinion on animal fur.

So this morning it is very cold here. I wore leather gloves that have rabbit fur on the inside for insulation. They are warm and soft, very cozy. These gloves were given to me a few years ago by my aging grandfather who purchased the gloves nearly 60 years ago.
Anyways, a woman that I work with got upset with me about the gloves. Claiming that I was endorsing animal cruelty. I explained to her the origin of the gloves, the fact that they are a sort-of heirloom, and she still said I was supporting the "torturing" of animals.
What does the OT think?

I love fur. Extremely warm. Generally speaking industries that rely on a renewable resource to exist are all in favor of properly managing and conserving those resources.

I have no problem with fur, meat or leather. I do think we have a responsibility to humanely treat animals.

faux fur is very much in style, so just tell people it's fake.
I love fur, but as a dude who grew up poor and in South Louisiana, I never had any. My SO, on the other hand, inherited some furs from her grandmother. She loves her rabbit fur earmuffs in the winter, so I bought her a faux fur"ish"/fleece patagonia vest that matches it. She loves it.

Reminds me of the old joke with the grizzly bear and the rabbit.
Rabbit hops upon a grizzly bear taking a dump. Grizzly bear looks down and says
"Hey rabbit, do you have a problem with the poo sticking to your fur when you take a shite?"
"Why no grizzly bear, I've never had that problem"
"Good, lucky for you" says the bear. Then he picks up the rabbit and wipes his arse with him.
