1980s knight rider car with adjustable speed switch was the greatest of all time. Put scotch tape on the back wheels and that bitche do donuts.

I just did a bit of quick research and realized my RC-10 is a classic. It has the "A" stamp on the body so it's from the original run in 1984. They are basically still the same car today as they were when introduced. I still have the box it came in too. I'll wait another 20 years and put it on ebay.

Same here. TA still the shite. Quite a bit more than $100 though.

As a teen j was sponsored by Kyosho with the Ultima. It was Ultima vs. RC-10 back in the day. No other cars. Would compete. My cars had well over $500 in upgrades which for back then was a shite ton of money. But j was sponsored so it didn't really cost me that much. Used to race at Loupes off Florida BLVD all the time and also travel around to other tracks. This was mid 80's.

Hobby Town has Dromida brand. They start at $100, and you can upgrade it down the road if you want it faster.

I guess the operative word here is Toy.. You can get them for< $100. If it breaks though (and believe me, yo Will break it), you can just toss it in the trash. No way to get parts or anything. Unless you get the opportunity to bash with a real big boy toy like a Team Assocaited, Traxxas, or HPI. Then you would see what a real rc car is and you might get hooked then $$$$$$$$.

as far as cheap hobby cars go i like Redcat. Cheap available parts.

If OP don't want to get hooked, he doesn't need to see a Lithium powered Brushless motored vehicle. They're insanely fast. Especially the 1/8th scale.

Is this a good one to start off with? - LINK

I have the truck in your link. I used to play with RC cars as a kid and just started getting back into them with my kids. I paid 59.99 for it and it is worth every penny. It is extremely fast and fun to drive. It runs great over grass and dirt and turns on a dime. The battery does wear out fast (about 15 minutes) so I would get an extra battery. It is somewhat of a pain to remove the body clips to swap batteries and turn it on but its not that bad. I would buy an extra pack of body clips because they are easy to lose. Dont listen to the other posters that say you need to buy a Traxxas or spend over $100.00 for a starter RC car. This truck is a perfect starter. No it is not as well made as Traxxas and will probably need replacement parts sooner but for the price its a great performing truck.
