I think facebook is listening in on my conversations.

Yesterday I got a message on my car display that I needed to change the battery on my keyfob.
When I got home from work I put my laptop on the island in the kitchen and opened up google and facebook to look for a recipe I had planned to make.
While I was attending to dinner, I mentioned to my wife about the message about changing the battery and if we had any of the batteries.
After dinner, I returned to my computer to find a facebook ad about replacement keyfobs. I found this curious since I have never searched for this specific thing on my computer.
Could it be the Google or Facebook are spying on me?!
Those basterds!

Your wife's vibrator uses the same batteries as your key fob. She was doing some research

Yes.
I was talking to someone in message about a certain topic and I saw ads for it right after.

There is a reason many people put tape over the speaker and camera

I'd be going nuts if this happened to me.

Pretty much anything you type (especially in search) will serve up ads. That's pretty much digital advertising 101 for you. Did you go to any websites that dealt with batteries or keyfobs before that? Did you search anything related to it? Look for them on amazon?
Now, listening to your conversations and serving ads? That's another thing completely. But it's completely possible to test out.

Of course it is. Whenever I am at a friend's place and they have their computer running woth a mic I talk all about gay sex sites, butt plugs, and clown costumes. Then wait for them to comment on the ads they see.

Sounds like something LucasP would do.

I've had a few things happen like this. Once I was in the car with my gf talking about taking a trip to Pensacola. When I got home, I was getting ads for Pensacola hotels on my browser.
That's the only one I can remember now but there have been a few others. I don't believe shite like we're being watched through our webcams but I absolutely have to believe that they are somehow picking up on keywords of conversations. Too many instances for it to be a coincidence.

So edgy!
I'm glad you know so much about vibrators. Tons of first hand experience, I'm sure.

If you enter a keyword in a computer, it'll inform ads served up.

It is a little crazy what "they" know about us electronically. No joke, I clicked on the Hummingbird thread last night that is located here on the OB... did not post, just clicked. I've had 2 emails from two vendors hawking freaking hummingbird food.

I know that, but I'm talking about conversation too. I'm not a conspiracy theorist and I usually don't believe things like 'big brother' watching or listening but I've had it happen several times. Something is picking up our conversations.

It's happened to me too. I remember noticing it a couple of times and thinking back about my internet searches but I can't remember the specific product.
