You're a terrible liar.

are you asking why the rear end gear ratio matters when you have a car with more gears over the 1:1 ratio?
You know having extra gears doesn't change the axle ratio.
Simply put in may cars in third gear you have a 1:1 ratio. For every rotation of the crankshaft you have one rotation of the drive axle. (this isn't all cars just and example) Now Now the driveaxle takes this and turns the pinion on the rear end. The gears inside then transmit power to the wheels. A 3.73 gear will multiply the torque from the driveshaft by 3.73. 4.10 gears would multiply that by 4.1.
So the greater the ratio, the greater the torque, but adversely the greater the engine has to work to produce speed, so generally 4.10 cars top out at much lower speeds than 3.51 cars. Or 3.73.
Any manual is going to have similar gears 1-3, but some cars are geared to stay longer in first than others. (A Lamborghini Murcielago redlines at 70mph in first gear, most others can't do more than 30-40)
So long post short, your post makes no sense.
Correct in every way but that sentence. 50-60 baw.

True but this Mustang puts you at 1:1 in 5th gear. So only 1 overdrive.

I'm not sure what vehicle the OP is referring to, but if it doesn't have a Cummins then it doesn't matter.

If you are driving a manual then you can control the gear ratio effectiveness, to an extent.
Control the rpms being sent to the rear. Greater top end speed with higher rpms, or greater torque for hole shots
I guess it depends on what this car is setup for. With 3.73 it would seem like fuel efficiency. If the engine has tons of low end torque on its own they should run 3.08s. With 6th gear I assume they wanted some top end speed.

Autos are faster than manuals
I'm well aware of that. But with the manual you can "create" that burst that's lacking with an auto. Clutch manipulation is what makes a manual more fun to drive and makes it "feel" faster.
The speed (or acceleration) difference on paper is what made me come real close to getting the A8 in the Vette. The A8 is about .1 sec. faster in 0-60 that the M7 on paper. And with the overwhelming majority of drivers, the difference is even more pronounced. The Vette forum I frequent has a list of confirmed 0-60 and 1/4 mile times (verified with a slip, not word of mouth), and the best A8 times are probably closer to .3 faster than the M7 times. But damn, that manual is fun to drive. I also almost went paddle shifters for faster track lap times, but with the rev matching feature on the manual, it negates the auto's advantage for the most part. I'm faster on the track in my Vette than I was in my 911, and I attribute that mostly to the rev matching. And with my back issues, I often get partial paralysis in my right foot, so heel-toe shifting is not my forte.

So you wasted a salesman's time by rawhiding the shite out of a car and then didn't buy shite. Gotta love "customers" like you.

I'm sure you've bought every car you've ever test driven. If they come down to the number I want or give more for my trade in, I'll sign the papers in a heartbeat. If he gets me a leftover 15 with the options and color I want and the price I offered, then we'll work that deal.
