The whole "CITY Strong" thing has been so overdone it's gotten to the point where I roll my eyes even when it's for a good cause.

What city was the first to use the phrase? I actually don't know.

Yea the only places I've ever considered expensive in Acadiana are River Ranch and a couple of the Private golf course neighborhoods around there. I'm sure there are other high dollar areas but I've never heard anyone describe Youngsville as unaffordable/expensive.

It's an interesting phenomenon.

Lafayette picks on Youngsville.
New Orleans picks on Baton Rouge
Louisiana picks on Mississippi

And noone can realize they are fighting for a prize no one else wants

(Looking forward to the downvotes)

Wut

From wiki for Youngsville (no I don’t feel like verifying these numbers)

quote:

The median income for a household in the town was $67,147. The per capita income for the town was $31,257. About 4.5% of the population were below the poverty line. Youngsville has the highest per capita income ($31,257) in Lafayette Parish. Compare that to the Parish's largest city Lafayette ($27,532) or the Parish as a whole ($26,791). Go a bit further and compare it to the state's largest cities like New Orleans ($24,929) or Baton Rouge ($23,195) or compare it to the entire state ($23,094).

Most of Laffy is old trash houses built decades ago. All the money is going to the south side of town and Youngsville. The demographics of Youngsville don’t hurt either.

Boston got it from Lance Armstrong's "Livestrong"

quote:

The Livestrong Foundation (stylized as LIVESTRONG) is a United States nonprofit organization that provides support for people affected by cancer. The foundation, based in Austin, Texas, was established in 1997 by cancer survivor and former professional road racing cyclist Lance Armstrong, as the Lance Armstrong Foundation.[1] The Livestrong brand was launched by the foundation in 2003.[2] Armstrong resigned from the foundation in 2012 after his admission of doping.

quote:

Boston Strong" is a slogan that was created as part of the reaction to the Boston Marathon bombing in April 2013. It is a variation on the term Livestrong, which was created in 2004. It has been placed on various kinds of merchandise after the phrase became popular, as well as gained criticism from various entities.[1] The use of the term in Boston has led to similar phrases entering public discourse, such as America Strong.

It's a typical suburb on a way smaller scale than bigger cities.

It's mostly made up of middle class that can't afford to live in the nice areas of the city. Mostly go to public schools because they like the demographics out there better.

Fair enough. I genuinely didn't know where it first came from. But Boston was the first to begin the "LOCATION Strong" thing, yes?

Either way, it's getting overused.
