It takes a big man to admit when he's down on his luck and ask for help. Hope Cork gets him a good job from this thread.

Are we talking a rotating schedule like 7/7 or 14/14, or a regular 40-hour workweek? I was making close to six figures at my last job, but that was working 90+ hours per week with virtually no days off. I would have no issue with humbling myself and taking lesser pay.

four 10's or five 8's, your choice...Zero OT, never needed.

significant pay decrease, $35k, it's simple, no stress, mundane, and entry level so that's just where people start. Position is capped around $50k and not much growth opportunity after until people leave or you become a site manager.

I don't hire, but when I leave they will need someone. I'll know more in June. You could probably do better, but when the time comes, if you haven't found better, can pass a drug test and get a TWIC....shouldn't be an issue. My regional hates looking for new people, so when someone leaves he asks if anyone knows anyone who needs a job.

damn. Nice to see all the support.

They don't call them "OT Ballers" for nothing. I'm sure Rex Tillerson will be along momentarily with a solid offer.

I don't know how it works in your state but typically you'd have to go to the local unemployment office in person to get the ball rolling.

Good luck, dude

And don't feel less of yourself for going on employment. It's there for a reason. You paid into it. Use it.

Cork, Nabors is ramping back up in NWLA for Indigo, I know they are probably full with employees active and standby, but might swing by their office in Tyler since you are close.

Exactly.

It is actually employer-funded, but it is a form of insurance for when you need it.

Did OP post his email or anything?

I wasn't aware they had an office here in Tyler. I'll definitely do that, thanks.

call around to attorneys. someone will take your case.

after he guesstimates your cut, make sure he knows what you will settle for.

use some of the money to buy training in an up and coming field.

It's corkfather@gmail.com

Please don't abuse it, I'm not joking when I say I'm having a rough time. After the hung jury I came very close to killing myself, so I could really do without the unnecessary bullshite.

I've been contemplating it. I just don't like the idea of a handout. I've worked my entire life and earned my own living, I don't want the government to take care of me if I'm capable of taking care of myself.

It's not a handout; it's insurance.

Already have a TWIC, and could pass a piss test today. Keep me updated, I appreciate it.

Cork hang in there brother. This is a bad patch. But you have survived worse already. I'm praying for you. YOU ARE ALIVE FOR A REASON.

the Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.

Looks like lots of people are already helping. I would love to help if I had any leads but I don't have contacts in your field. Hang in there buddy.

Will do

Might be even able to rent you a newly remodeled 2br house in town, cheap for the first 6 months. The job I'm contemplating taking is 2,000 miles away, so I'll have to leave almost everything behind.

Solid thread. I'm going to keep an eye on it. I could use a complete change of scenery and looking for an entry level position.
