I really hate having to ask for help, but I'm going through a really rough time at the moment.

I was laid off 3 times in 2015 alone, and then broke my arm on the job, got no workers comp or anything, and was fired because of it in January of this year. I've been out of work since, had surgery, and recently had to deal with the murder trial hung jury bullshite, which I'm sure many of you are aware of.

I've been applying everywhere I can, but the oilfield in East TX is pretty much nonexistent and companies in other places (West TX, South TX, etc.) aren't paying for employee housing anymore. I'm basically at the end of my rope, and the jobs that I can do are somewhat limited at the moment due to my recent surgery.

If anyone knows of any job openings anywhere, offshore/onshore, the environmental industry, project management, consulting, etc. I have 5+ years of O&G experience and all pertinent certifications:

TWIC
HUET
H2S
CPR
Rig Pass
Safe Gulf
Safe Land
40-Hour HAZWOP
OSHA Medical Exam & Respirator Fit Testing

I would really appreciate it if anyone could at least provide me some leads. I'll go anywhere and do anything, I really have no other choice. Debts are piling up and I've got about $30 in my bank account.

Thank you all for your continued support and kind words.

I know several boys from back home who got laid off from the oilfield have found jobs in construction. Most of them have headed down south to the Lake Charles area. There's been a few that have gotten on with Sulzer and similar companies too, working shutdowns. You might look into those.
Good luck bro.

Talk to stout and have a look in the LC area for opportunities. Sorry you're suffering cork. O&G companies have no CAPEX available in 2016 so everyone is expecting things to remain this way until 2017. My advise would be to look outside the industry for now.

I've been contemplating it. I just don't like the idea of a handout. I've worked my entire life and earned my own living, I don't want the government to take care of me if I'm capable of taking care of myself.

Its not a handout. That us what it's for....a temporary bridge until you find employment. There is no shame in taking what you are due. Your previous employer pays for it and you should also sue their arse for your med bills.

It's not a handout. Don't let your pride get in the way of providing for yourself.

You've earned your share of unemployment. Use it. This is exactly what it's for.
