YES. Makes me insane when people stop to let others make left turns from opposite lanes, to be "nice". It makes traffic back up behind them far worse than if the left turner had to wait.

I agree. Most of the time it's older people who think they are helping, but in reality they are effing up the flow of traffic.

I'm preparing to turn right onto a busy 5-lane road (full-sized turning median). I look to my left and it looks reasonably clear. In the median (instead of going to the cross walk 50 yards away) is a young guy anywhere from 17-25.
I politely wave for him to cross over so A.) So I don't hit him while I'm turning right and B.) So he can get over safely.
What does he do? He takes his sweet arse time, attempting to hold his pants up (they were mid-thigh) making zero effort to cross the street in a brisk manner. Keep in mind - he had nothing in his hands.
Of course, by casually taking his sweet arse time, an army of vehicles follow and I have to wait a couple of extra minutes before I can finally make the turn.
Hmmmmmm

It's called a center turn lane, not a median BTW.

I would have simply proceeded into my turn.
I really don't get people who stop for pedestrians who aren't in the road yet. It doesn't matter if they're in a crosswalk or not btw - if they're standing on the sidewalk you're good.
It isn't polite either if you have traffic coming up behind you. Just go on through.

I don't know how true it is, but I was told once by an insurance agent that I could be held liable if I wave a pedestrian across & they get hit by another car. Not sure how they'd prove I waved them across, but I stopped doing it, regardless.

Didn't have to read anything after this. I wouldn't have given him the opportunity to cross.
