Camping out' as you so eloquently put it, while going 80 in a 70, 8 feet off my rear bumper leaves you no time to brake should it be needed.

In this instance, it sounds like you're the one camping out

Louisiana drivers, bless their spatially challenged little hearts.

I'm sure the fricking 18 wheeler drivers that caused this are from Louisiana

What can legitimately be done to reduce the # of wrecks on the stretch between Laf & BR, and move traffic through more fluidly on a regular basis?

I know a big part of the problem at the MRB is the funneling of 3 lanes into 1. But overall it's sad that we can't come up with / implement a solution to alleviate this issue.

There was no wreck on I-10E bound today, but still i sat in that doodoo for 2.5 hours waiting to cross over the MRB. Shouldn't take more than an hour for that stretch from Laf into BR.

I'm heading east on i-10 and just passed the mess. At least 3 18-wheelers were in wrecks and lost part of their loads.

Or make I-10 E & W a toll road between BR & Laf. Then the poors would have to use 190, and we'd get money to add a 3rd and 4th lane.

Is there any sign of it being cleared any time soon? I have family stuck in it.

I drive the Basin Bridge 5 days a week. It's usually out of state drivers that are flying in the left lane. La drivers are the slow motherfrickers talking on their phones- usually in the right lane!

The biggest problem I see is the 18wheelers that use the left lane to pass ( specifically in violation of the law). They are in my experience way more dangerous than the passenger vehicles.

The waze app has saved me several times with the Basin bridge. I make it a point to check it when traveling between BR and LFT or any long trip.

People don't want to disengage their cruise control so they ride your arse til you get over. That's a recipe for disaster. It's like people are trying to make it from BR to Lafayette in under 30 minutes. Just relax and enjoy the ride!

I think ultimately the biggest issue is the MRB ... even if you reroute to 190, unless they go over the old bridge they'll still just sit in traffic trying to get to 10 in Port Allen adn then to get over the MRB.

It all sucks.

An extra lane would do wonders, but how to pay for it?
Surely, the amount of traffic on I-10 should justify more federal funding

Another mrb south of the current one with a toll connector would be nice

I don't ever see them adding additional lanes. A greater LSP presence would help the speeding and the trucks passing, but I never see a cop on that bridge when it's raining. Unless there is a wreck. See a few local and state boys in the morning drive and occasionally in the pm rush hour. But that's it. Never see them at night.

Get over. What part of 'KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS' don't you people understand?? It's a state law.
