25k under its competition. It is still a steal for what you are getting

I couldnt convince myself to buy a 65k hyundai even if it doesnt have the name on it anymore.

On a much smaller scale, it is not much different than the Ozark Trail vs. Yeti tumblers. You get laughed out of the thread for spending $30+ on a Yeti cup when you can get essentially the same cup for less than $10 from Ozark Trail, yet people think spending $65k on a Hyundai is crazy and won't bat an eye about spending $20k or more on comparable German models.

I know it sounds crazy that a $65k Hyundai is a value choice, and it may eventually flame out as people in that segment aren't usually looking for the most bang for their buck, but I'll never criticize someone for purchasing a Genesis.

i think in 2016 hyundai is actually trying to raise prices of their luxury models so that people think the quality is higher. it's a legitimate marketing angle that is really fascinating, especially when you get into the social classes aimed at by this move

If anything that should make you more of a fan of the Genesis, not less.

Doesn't seem to be working based on the replies in this thread.

Shouldnt we really be comparing the lease prices? Do the wealthy really purchase these high end sedans? In my experience most lease as they know they will want a brand new one in 3 years anyway

Well, lets be honest. Probably fewer than 10% of the posters in this thread could afford the car.

It's barely more expensive than the f250s that plenty of people around here drive, and equally expensive as the Suburbans and Denalis that litter the road. Plenty of people can swing the note on them.

Was very close to pulling the trigger on a Genesis 5.0 (now G80).....exact same car. Sad thing is, the 5.0L engine is being replaced.

I had that bad boy down to $41k and at 420HP and LOADED, it was tempting but I couldn't justify coming out of pocket beyond my budget for a company vehicle. (with tax it was $44k).

I settled on a smaller, adolescent toy.

Hyundai makes pretty damn good cars these days. The Genesis will catch on but will always be seen a bit on the budget side.

I was thinking they stole the Bentley logo- but it looks like after a quick google that aston martin was founded first 1913, and Bentley 1919.

Doesn't change the fact that more than 10% of the people here could be potential buyers of this car.

Which is crazy. Most reviews I have seen have it rated better than the 7 series. So a better luxury car, with better warranty, with waaaaaaaaay cheaper maintenance, and a 25k less sticker price, still wont be bought as much.

Shows how humans are barely a step up from sheep
