More than 10% may be able to afford this car, but I wouldn't suggest that they're actually in the market for something like it or its competitors. It doesn't exactly compete with F250s and Yukon XLs.

I was just showing that plenty of everyday kind of people can and do spend that kind of money on a vehicle.

Excellent choice.

Just a side note, and CSB- but I was in New Hampshire and in the town where I was staying they had a "Classic Bentley" type weekend. Everyone in the New England area who owned one, drove it up to the lake for the weekend. Very cool to get to see such amazing cars. Even if I may never own one.

Did Bentley or Aston Martin have it first?

So, you will be a stubburn arse and get a lesser 5 series for 65k, while the 65k Hyundai competes with your BMWs 7 series

You're ignoring the 5 series likely being the better performing car. Have they compared the Genesis to a 5 series directly yet?

This is probably a good move based on the "$65K for a Hyundai?!?" replies in here.

This was a long time coming. They already produced the Genesis and Equus with essentially no Hyundai badging. They came with iPads as manuals. You dealt with Genesis and Equus specific salespeople. The name change was the next natural step.

This is their G80, formerly the Hyundai Genesis:

I anxiously await their G70 production model. Supposedly will be very similar to the concept:

This is exactly why they are trying to rebrand. Because no matter the quality of the car they produce, some idiot is going to think he is better off or will impress more people buying a car with a luxury brand.

The 5 series doesnt compete with the former Equus, it just doesnt.

Look, if you end up going with the 7 series over the Hyundai, I think thats fine. But when one simply states, "no way I am going with the Hyundai" simply because of their name(which makes no sense considering they have a great track record with cars) it shows me that person is not a smart, rational, diplomatic human

Is this how the Hyundai buyers justify their purchase?

Probably right. Pretty impressive team over at Genesis...

Actually, not sure. I assumed that was top end but it may not be. That is the top end Acura Sedan.

It's pretty human to have preferences IMO.

I don't own a Hyundai. I knew a few people that do and have been in them a few times and they seem like nice cars. I just think it's pretty stupid to automatically discredit a car based on an outdated reputation of the manufacturer.

But I also realize that many people looking to spend this kind of money in a car are in it for the brand more than anything else.

Well sure, and no one really needs a good reason to buy one car over the other, but the point is that when you start comparing Genesis models in class, you quickly run out of good reasons to buy a Mercedes or BMW other than "well, just because."
