How to manage fussy Baby?

As first-time parents, the past 3 weeks were an emotionally and physically draining experience.
Our new born (3 weeks old now) is constantly crying days and nights. She's been sleeping in our bed and refuses to go to sleep in a crib. She need to be constantly held-up to avoid the crying. The second we put her down (even when she is asleep), she'd wake up and start crying again. She is only getting about 6 hours of sleep a day. Her mom and I are barely getting any sleep. The only time she is not crying is when she is been breastfed.
We tried the cry-out method, and she cried for 6 straight hours at night, she almost lost her voice.
Doctors said nothing wrong with her, and she is gaining normal weight, she is just a fussy baby, and hoping for thing to get better soon.
Anyone with similar experience?

Well that’s your first frick up.
But seriously feed her more. Maybe she’s hungry. Once we got our girl on a feeding schedule she cried way less. Crying is her telling you she’s hungry.

Could be reflux? Common in newborns.

Horrible precedent to start out with .

We have no choice, she won't stop crying.

Did she get checked for reflux? Because my babies did that and then Zantac and eventually Prevacid worked wonders. And don’t let a 3 week old cry it out. Too young.
Also, read baby wise. Eat, play, sleep. Or whatever order it is.

You don’t try the cry-out method with a 3-week-old, you fricking dipshit

Honestly probably not much. The first 3 months are just frickin brutal for a lot of people.

You came to a sports message board for advice on child rearing?
You are incredibly brave, or incredibly stupid.

You need to put her in the crib. You’re risking her life by putting her in the bed. I know someone who rolled onto their baby in their sleep and killed the baby

The Happiest Baby On The Block book worked well for my wife and I, especially the 5 S’s.

Get a new doctor if they actually recommended letting the baby cry it out for 6 hours at 3 weeks old. It’s one thing for them to “fuss” some, that’s normal. But not screaming and crying for 6 hours. Your normal human animal instincts, or surely your wife’s maternal instincts, should have told you that! Dumb.

If it is reflux, she may cry when put on her back. I don't think a baby that young should be allowed to cry for hours.

Reflux is very common. Also, you may need to try to establish a pattern with them for sleep. The first year is rough but don’t feel defeated. Do the best you can, it will get better soon! Congrats!!

The more food thing could be right. I didn’t produce enough and my first was always screaming. Supplemented formula and he was happy.
