How sketchy are these cash only Express OMVs?

I mean first of all, is there any conceivable reason why they would be cash only if somebody isn't skimming off the top?

Who owns these places? The State? Private citizens with state contracts?

I like paying $12 to get to the front of the line as much as the next guy, but I mean honest to God, these places just have to be as crooked as the day is long.

I handled my business in there in less than 20 minutes the other day. I love that place.

The regular OMV/DMV was cash only for years.

I went in one the other day to do a couple truck registrations...

The total was over $500... cash only.

Hmmm, no thanks, not going to do a $500 cash deal on expenses.

Company check? No. Credit card? No. Just cash.

Couldn't care less. I'm in and out in about 10-15 minutes, tops.

Does the same company own all the ATMs in every one in the state? Or many counties? That would be a killer easy business if so, they probably have $5+ ATM fees.

No doubt they're sketchy, but they're also convenient as hell for the basics. Idc what they do with my money as long as my license checks out as legit.

No, of course not.

It can still be lucrative though. ATMs in front of banks make absurd fees, even with. "low" fees like $2 for non-bank clients. $20-$30k per month in some cases.

I think your math is a tad bit off here.

Yeah, look at the politician's pockets who are being greased to outsource this company.

That place is pretty magical though.

They are either sketchy or negligent.

Daughter renewed license at one in Slidell. A few months later added her to company insurance and MVR came back with expired license. She had license in hand showing it didn't expire for 4 years. Went to state DMV and they had no explanation. Had to pay for new license and penalty.

It is. Those numbers are ATM fees in general, not necessarily from the ATM at the branch. It includes the revenue from an ATM on location and ATM fees paid by clients at other locations.

Whoops.

I don't believe the one on Veterans in Metairie is cash only but it is incredibly efficient and worth the extra money.

I was in and out with a new license in 5 minutes. The best 12$ I have ever spent to get to the front of the line.

Don't ruin it please.
