They must have misquoted Jesus. Did he say "Give me everything you have and follow me" or did he say "Sell everything you have and follow me"?

Would like to have seen Joaquin Phoenix frick with them as opposed to his year long mockumentary. His audit would have been awesome.

They actually have a rehab facility down the road from my parents.

From what we've seen, they are good people. The keep the road clean, and nothing crazy has happened.

Narconon? It's a huge scam. Several people have died at the facilities. They take people off psych meds cold turkey and stick them in saunas for 5 hours a day. Many of them have been shut down.

Nice point. Have never seen it put that way, but it's 100% right.

Not to mention the fact that Miscavige's wife hasn't been seen in 8 fricking years and he could have snapped one day and murdered her. And Scientology has plants on the LAPD, so I don't really trust them that she's either alive or not completely enslaved to this power hungry abusive maniac.

Look into how they became tax exempt - they filed enough lawsuits to force the IRS legal dept to run out of money each year in the first half of the year for several years in a row.

Finally the irs just gave them their tax exempt status so they could have the legal funds to go after tax evaders.

Nothing but a money embezzlement scam IMO. Dumb arse weak people who get shaken down for all of their cash.

I wouldn't doubt that your will must include them to the tune of 40% or some crazy shite like that.

Also the documentary said that Tom Cruise got slave labor to fix up his cars and houses.
And that they have blackmailed Travolta into staying.

The one thing, and only thing that really got me, is how they MAKE you disown your family if you leave.
Only cults do that shite.

also it is very expensive.
It takes you like $50,000 before they even tell you the orgin story.

The whole thing is whacked.

Everyone in that cult should be blacklisted from normal society.

In 2009, actress Leah Remini left the church of Scientology after 30 years and she didn't go quietly.
Remini explained her departure was because "no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to."

One of the few celebrities who has been as vocal about breaking from Scientology is Oscar winning writer/director, Paul Haggis, who has publicly criticized the church for requiring members to "disconnect" from those who have chosen to cut ties with the religion.

quote:

So when he heard that Remini had later left the church, the "Crash" and "Million Dollar Baby" writer says "I read some things that really disturbed me."

"First was the way Leah was being attacked by her celebrity 'friends,' who were disparaging her character," he explains. "What was new to me was the report that Leah had run afoul of the church by challenging Scientology’s leader, David Miscavige, who is held to be infallible."

David MiscavigeRemini reportedly questioned the whereabouts of Scientology leader David Miscavige's wife, who hasn't been seen in years.

Remini reportedly questioned the whereabouts of Miscavige's wife, Shelly, who hasn't been seen i

quote:

"The next thing I learned made me feel terrible," Haggis explains in his open letter. "Leah got in trouble because of me, because when I was 'declared' a 'Suppressive Person' and shunned, she came to my defense — without me ever knowing it. She had shouting matches with Tommy Davis, then the church spokesman, who had come to try and keep her quiet."

quote:

"I wanted to thank the people who are in it and have worked so hard. You, Mike Rinder, Marty Rathbun, Marc Headley, Tom DeVocht, Lawrence Wright, Alex Gibney, and HBO. And Paul Haggis in particular for what he wrote on your website the other day. What Paul wrote is so exactly right."
