And in what parish do you live?

Is it making a comeback, staying the same or dying off?

remember people

adding a "EAUX" to ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING in an attempt to look cultural doesn't count here. He means actual Cajun French language speaking.

There's a radio station that still does the morning news in French in Mamou I think.

Not often, but I hear it occasionally. Lafayette Parish.

I think it's pretty much staying the same, maybe a slight uptick. Supposedly enrollment in French immersion programs is increasing around here.

Pretty prevalent in Laffy and moreso in New Iberia, Delcambre, and outlying rural areas.

Not often. I've heard people speak Cajun French twice, and both were very old and didn't teach it to their kids because of how badly they were ridiculed for speaking it when they were younger

My great grandparents only spoke french. My grandparents know how to but stopped when they moved from Thibodaux to New Orleans in the 60's.

No one under the age of 55 in my family speaks it. I think its dying off.

Ascension Parish

My grandparents crew still speak it to each other. That's the only time I hear it.

yeah, there's a station I like to listen to when I'm within 100 miles or so of Lafayette that plays and speaks only french.

When I lived in La, I had a job with this guy who was pure cajun and his grandmother would call him all the time and they would argue about once a day in French. She only spoke French.

I've never heard it in New Orleans outside of an academic setting.

St. Martin parish. 4-5 times a week when I talk to my great uncle and my uncles on my dad's side.

But it is dying off.

Haven't been home in 12 years, so not sure about now.

I know in the 90s in Lafourche Parish I heard it daily.

People will still use individual words, but I haven't heard anyone have a Cajun French conversation in 20 years
