I've had over hydration (no idea what it's called) to the point of blurry vision and God awful head aches from drinking too much water. Only a time or two and never again

I usually down about 4-5 16oz cups at work during the day. Then drink about 2 bottles at home at night.

There is no magic formula. It depends on all sorts of factors. Just pay attention to the color of your urine.

I always thought this story of water intoxication was crazy:

quote:

On January 12, 2007, Jennifer Strange, a 28-year-old woman and a mother of three, from Rancho Cordova, California, was found dead in her home by her mother, hours after trying to win one of Nintendo's Wii game consoles. KDND 107.9 "The End" radio station's "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest involved drinking large quantities of water without urinating. A nurse called the radio station to warn them about the danger in which they were putting people, but the disc jockeys rejected the warnings. Lucy Davidson, the winner of the contest, was severely sickened while picking up her prize. Civil charges against the radio station were filed by Strange's family,[24] and the family was eventually awarded $16.5 million in the ensuing wrongful death lawsuit.[25] The FCC launched its own investigation to determine if the station violated the terms of its operating license.

There's such a thing as drinking too much water. It leads to a sodium imbalance in your body, which if bad enough can cause seizures and in some cases can be fatal. Older people are more susceptible to it, but it can happen to anyone. If you drink a lot of water, be sure you're taking in enough electrolytes, too.

The lighter side effects are rather common, too. Stiff muscles, etc for those under the assumption you need to pound water just to stay hydrated.

Most of our water is pretty electrolyte and mineral deficient, so if you are pounding the water, at least put a pinch of sea salt in occasionally.

Probably Hyponatremia. Its a very real and (possibly)deadly thing when you drink so much water that your blood gets diluted. It happens a lot with distance runners and athlete who sweat a lot and only drink water to rehydrate.

Not sure but I thought the head ache was from being dehydrated and kept drinking more (complete opposite of what I needed to do)

Here's another. My wife's HS in Jackson had a football player die from drinking too much water.

half gallon per day , but
very hard to do...
I like Cold water. some can't do it...
plus I drink enough liquor to sink many battleships...

This boggles my wee brain. Average for me is.
1. get out of bed 32 oz
2. get to work 16-32 oz
3. sometime around/during lunch 32 oz
4. before leaving work 16-32 oz
5. between supper and bedtime 32 oz.

that doesn't count for extra 32 oz if hungover and water during/after a work out.

Not enough. I dont really like drinking water, but if I have a water bottle at my desk, I do it. Am told its a major factor in weight loss. Also water is a big player in brain performance.

I've done the drink 3 gallons of water a day then stop to get cut/dry and see if it would actually work. I didn't have any bad effects other than having to sprint to the bathroom in the middle of the night to piss.

Same here but I heard about it and it enticed me. I've tried several different things like that.

Not to get ripped/cut etc. just because I'm a skeptic and wanted to experiment.

Prob 5. I am a well-oiled machine of a big boy. Need water. I don't do it to pee clear 24/7 and not forcing it down like a job.

Peeing 5 times in 24 hours isn't normal?

Have no idea how much but enough to pee completely clear 2-3 times an hour.

Started doing this as a qui si cleanse, have a tumbler of ice cold water on have all day long. Drink only ice cold water with every meal.

Only thing I've noticed so far is I'm normally a hot natured person, now I need a light jacket in the office because I stay cold.
