Not much.

Usedta-could light that right rear tire on my 93 4 cyl ranger up if I backed up fast enough first.

it takes a damn good bit...I have had trucks with 350 CID and have never had one that would spin much without holding brakes or taking a corner.

Trick question.

It doesn't take horsepower, it takes torque.

Is that in the torque converter?

Probably has to do as much with the transmission and rear end gearing as it does with hp.

I pay too much for my tires, but damn I want to melt some asphalt.

Melt the old ones once the new ones are ordered and arrive for install.

We just had cruising the coast here and there's melted asphalt divots all over town. I'm jealous.

Manual should make it much much easier. How wide are the tires? I recommend trying it in an empty lot on wet pavement before showing off at a red light.

More about torque.

Also depends on the tires. Some are much easier to break lose than others.

Depends more on tires. A bone stock 25-year-old Miata(with an open diff) on stock-type rubber can pegleg a burnout until the engine catches fire.

Does it have traction control? It will obviously need to be turned ON [OFF]

Cars and trucks are built to avoid losing traction, some vehicles make you work harder than others to overcome the safety features in place.

Can't really power brake a manual...can you?

I know the car can take it, but fricking it up is the last thing I want to do. Seems to hit redline quickly once you lose traction.

I mean I don't really want to buy new tires, but I watch shows where people have Chevy crate engines and they burn the shite out of tires. Those engines are, I'd guess about 250hp...in the ones I'm talking about, maybe 300. Just wondering what's sufficient.

has to do with the whole setup...you need tires that don't grab well, little weight over the drive tires, good bit of horsepower output, and the right gearing to get it to the drive axle.....
