Yeah, I can see that being true. In fact, tipping your mailman $5 makes a hell of a lot more sense to me than tipping a barber $250.

Most centers have a service counter (clerks are also part-time) who you could possibly speak to.

The package handler shifts are around 3:30-8:30 in the morning and 5:00-10:00 at night. Those guys will be working many more hours as well during this peak season. They work hard now for the chance to become drivers and make good money years down the road.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard someone propose in a serious manner. Way too much work to tip someone who you don't interact with directly...

I don't believe in tipping period... End of story.

If a waitress is amazing and gives me free stuff, then I will tip her the amount the free stuff would have cost. No free stuff = No tip

Aside from that let the restaurant pay them what they deserve to make.

Mailman gets $0.

FYI, I did a mail carrier's taxes 2 years in a row and he made over 70K with all the overtime he got. USPS would rather pay OT than hire more carriers and pay benefits.

Since you don't tip anybody, I wouldn't expect you to go through the effort to seek out giving a gift bonus to somebody.

That's your deal. I don't have a direct problem with it. I've been low on cash and wanted to avoid having to tip before. For me though, if I get to a point to have extra money regularly I would love to give tips to people.

There are people working all over the country we forget about that work hard and honestly every day that would love a tip to show they are appreciated. You may be one of them.

$5 is a nice little piece of money that would make many people's days at a variety of workplaces.

I tell them, "thank you for your service."

(except for the USPS guy)

Nothing. That's what Boxing Day is for and, last time I checked, this is America and we don't celebrate Boxing Day. If they want some extra dough, they should go to Canada.

I put a basket of $100 bills totaling $10k next to my front door. They take what they think they deserve. I believe in the honor system.

$5 won't even buy you lunch any more (unless you do the $1 menu at McD's or Taco Bell)

Now this has good potential with a slight adjustment...

Tie a big dog like a German Shepherd to a post, put basket of cash around 3-4 inches from where his mouth can reach. Sit out the cash basket and film the fun.

Nothing. I pay then and tip well on the average day. Expecting me to pay more on top of that is ridiculous. Christmas is for kids and family. My SO and I don't even really buy for each other except maybe a small thing here and there. People that expect things at Christmas are what is wrong with Christmas.

I tip my dogwalker the equivalent of two weeks pay, hair stylist the amt of a cut. I tip my dry cleaners, and when i lived downtown, i tipped the doormen that i knew and who were nice people $200.

Otherwise, have no idea who my mailman, or UPS people are.

I give a $20 to the mailman and $20 to each of the trash guys that I recognize as "regular" - That's about it.

Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver food, I can drive a taxi, I can and do cut my own hair. I did, however, tip my urologist. Because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.

I live in the sticks. I never see the dudes that pick up my garbage and even if I did I wouldn't tip them because they do a shitty job. I pick up my on mail at the post office so I have no mailman to tip. I basically don't have any service providers. I'm a excellent tipper though so any waiters and waitresses that wait on me and my wife always make out like bandits holidays or not holidays.
