Nothing excites me more than having uninformed people show up at a meeting to bitch about stuff.

Judy Eits said she is bothered that the bridge may be constructed too far south, to get traffic to New Orleans. Eits said lots of traffic on the current bridge near Port Allen, especially 18-wheelers, is trying to get to I-12 on the way east and those drivers want to avoid New Orleans. "I don't know that is our big problem," she said, meaning making it easier for motorists to get to eastbound I-10.

Dammit, Judy. Don’t be such a count. The old bridge will be there for that purpose, and it will have less traffic on it.

Whatever location they choose will upset some NIMBY prick.

Got to upset someone here and make a decision. Build the bridge.

Judy is right. Most of the truck traffic is not going to New Orleans.

Oh well why don’t you inform us Mr. smarty pants

It’s unusual for someone to be upset over something like this so why don’t you tell us how you are involved.

I don’t think people are out of line to be upset over this with Louisiana’s history of corruption, inefficiency, and poorly executed plans.

Judy won’t even be alive by the time the bridge is built.

Just build it straight through Spanish Lake to impact less people.

Bluebonnet is already a clusterfrick in the afternoons. If they use that as an approach to the bridge they better beef it up big time.

U-club people can’t even get out of their neighborhood in the morning without having a cop block traffic to let them out. They think they have stroke, but they don’t even have enough stroke to get a red light put up.

Building a road that exits I-10 just east of Grosse Tete connecting to a bridge by Dow and putting a road through Spanish Lake to Bluff Rd. is what needs to happen. A lot of the proposals have bridge traffic going to LA-30, but for that to happen LA-30 would have to be completely redone from LSU to Gonzales and I have no idea how’d they’d propose to fix the mess around I-10 in Gonzales.

Bluenbonnet can't support the amount of traffic it has now and they want to build a bridge near the casino and connect to Bluenbonnet? Yep, seems very Louisiana like.

That’s false. A large number of the people going there are very informed. The newspapers always pick idiots to interview, or idiots are the only ones that agree to interviews

And the current projections have Bluebonnet getting an additional 24k vehicles per day if that bridge is added and connected to bluebonnet. Bluebonnet can’t sustain anywhere near that. As it is bluebonnet gets heavy traffic congestion just a couple miles from where the bridge would connect

The plan for the bridge at Bluebonnet has the bridge approaches beginning midway between 30 and Harveston. The approaches would be in front of that school they just started to build.
24,000 or so vehicles are estimated on a bridge there each day.

Can we also add that those 24K are not evenly spread out either.

The Dow-adjacent crossing has already been ruled out, supposedly for navigational reasons. There isn't enough money to do the Grosse Tete connection, but you're right that it needs to happen.

One of the routes south of Plaquemine seems to be the ticket.

From everything I’ve read and seen there is no consideration to building this bridge and extending the highway eastward past 30.
The mission is to connect La 1 and 30 the best way possible.
Considerations are River safety, environment, traffic counts, tolls, and costs.
