I agree that Bluebonnett cannot support the traffic we have now. So, either the bridge gets passed and it screws it up even more (likely), OR the developers get their way and they get to add 3,500 more homes to that area without improving the infrastructure. Either way, those in that area are completely screwed, it's just a matter of who is doing the screwing.

What seems to be missing from all of these proposals is a large reduction in pass through traffic traveling through Baton Rouge.
None of these options will eliminate the freight trucks traveling cross country on I-10/12.
None of these options will provide a true bypass.
Yes, there will be a way to move people across the river who commute daily, but is that really why we are building a third bridge in the BR metro area?
Where is the linkage to the interstate? We will regret this choice almost like every other decision made regarding interstate paths in our area.

NOLA traffic from the west has no need to cross the river before Sunshine, Gramercy, Hale Boggs or Huey P.

Their website “scores” every crossing. Some are more advantageous than others. There’s a lot of good info on that site.

Does anybody know why they built the bridge in St. Francisville? That seems like a completely unnecessary place to put one, and any time I've gone over it there isn't anybody else on it. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome looking bridge, but man it seems borderline useless right there.

I agree with Judy on the point that some of the more southerly routes wont get traffic off the I-10 bridge.
JMHO, but I always have figured that one of the Plaquemine routes could be done fairly well and tied into I-10 at Grosse Tete. The problem for a new bridge is the East side connection. It will have to connect to something worthy enough to handle the volume coming and going.

The I-10 bridge bottleneck is caused by people trying to get from LA-1 to the east side of the river. Many of them to Ascension Parish because of the population boom there. Build a bridge around Plaquemine and you take a TON of traffic off the I-10 bridge.

No bridge across the river is useless. They just built them out of order. They should have prioritized that as a Baton Rouge bridge then built that one later. I’m never going to complain about a lower Mississippi crossing.
