Side note, I met him one time when I used to sell phones. Super nice guy. Spoke English rather well.
I was amazed at how quickly he picked up the English language in such a short time after he retired from the squared ring.

I don’t think they were Mid-South, or at least during the time I watched it in late 70’s, early 80’s.

I'll add Beautiful Bobby Eaton and the Midnight Express. Bobby was good people. He was born and raised in Huntsville, AL and my Pops knew him and his family. Pops was several years older than Bobby, but knew him from the neighborhood where my great grandmother and other family lived. I don't think I've heard anyone say a negative word about Bobby Eaton out of all the shoots and interviews I've heard over the years.

Dibiase and Dr Death were tough.

I watched Duggan vs Ric Flair in Alexandria. It was a long match. Flair put the figure four on , but Duggan reversed it! We were about to see him take the championship. I was pumped. Then when the ref asked Flair if he wanted submit Flair slapped him and was disqualified. Duggan won the match but the title didn’t change hands on a DQ…I was ticked!

Dixie wrestling turned into Mid south. One of the big names from Dixie, Grizzly Smith, was a Mid south promoter. His kid Jake the snake Roberts was in Mid south.

I remember wrestling coming on Saturdays after cartoons went off. I can’t remember the name but I think it was something like “Southeast Wrestling”. It was filmed in what appeared to be a studio at the local TV station. The main rivalry was between the good guy Bullet Bob Armstrong and the heel called The Tennessee Stud.

Kamala’s real name was James Harris. He backhanded a girl after a match in Lafayette and she sued him. He claimed she spit on him. She claimed it was unprovoked. My sister was one of the paralegals in the case.

Spent a lot of time watching wrestling with my dad and brother. Got to meet the Iron Sheik at a wrestling match held at Ft Sill. He was pretty old by then, couldn’t believe he was still going

JYD was the man, but what a sad ending.

[quote]The final tragedy in Junkyard Dog's life came in the summer of 1998, was twofold, and happened over a single weekend. As Wrestling Observer reports, he made an attempt to attend the high school graduation ceremony of his daughter, only to find out that he'd arrived too late, and she had already gone to celebrate with her friends. He never saw his daughter again. On the morning of June 1, Junkyard Dog started his journey back, but as Pro Wrestling Stories tells us, he never made it. As he was driving the Interstate 20, Junkyard Dog died in a single-car accident that sent his vehicle rolling three times. He was 45 years old.

It was definitely regional, I nerver saw Andre the Giant or the guys that were big in Atlanta.

It was Dibiase, JYD, Bill Watts, Buck Robley and the Arab everyone absolutely hated, Skandor Akbar. If Akbar beat Cowboy Bill Watts people would be crying, my dad would throw shite at the TV and go outside.

Shawn Michaels on the undercard. He used to hang out in Waveland/Pass when they rasseled in Biloxi. He was just as big a cheese dick back then.
