Rest in peace, Uncle Charlie D'amico.
You were the greatest promoter.

Used to see them work out at rics gym in Pineville . Once saw Ron Simmons bench 500 lbs . A few of them lived at our appt. Complex in Alexandria . Had a few beers with them at pool .

It was a huge thing in my family. We would all gather at my grandparents' house on weekends to watch either Midsouth or NWA back in the day.

i remember taking my nephew to his first live wrestling match in the Chalmette auditorium. Had no idea it was so popular. stood in line for an hour to buy tickets. got to watch them setting up the ring. it was basically a bunch of 2x10 boards covered by a padded mat.

I grew up as a kid in Memphis and my 1st assignment in the AF was Blytheville, AR so the wrestling roadshows hit all those little Arkansas towns and the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis. Went a few times but quickly realized that sitting ringside sucks bc even tho I knew it was fake (the outcome & punches), it was easier to see that close up.
