One I've had since I was 16 and don't even have the physical card, just want to keep the credit line open. One is my main one. One is a no fee Discover with 5% cashback reward match after the first year.

Capital One Venture for most purchases and to earn miles

Capital One Journey as back up, was my first card when I had no credit. May cancel it and get a Target card though.

I get people not wanting debt, but if you spend responsibly I don't see how or why you wouldn't want a credit card. Free plane tickets are awesome.

Those are cute little names to encourage dumb asses to accumulate debt. Nah, I'll pass bro.
Totally debt free, except for my house (820 FICO).

If those cute names help you justify credit card use, go for it. But, it's not for me and never has been.

Oh, here's another benefit --
Virtually zero junk mail too.

Um...if you pay it off right away (like most responsible reward card users do), you don't accumulate debt. It's virtually just like using your debit card, except you just pay off the amount you spend each month before it accrues interest.

You're basically admitting you're not disciplined enough to handle the potential perks of a credit card.

There's no debt if you pay it off every month. It's not that hard to budget accordingly and not spend more than I can pay off.

I guess that's tough for some people, though.

You can mail me an envelope that I'm not going to open once a month for a free vacation every year. That's worth the trade off.

The lack of this country's financial knowledge and discipline is sad. A lot of it is not people's fault, they've been led to believe that credit is bad and there is no basic financial education.

One of them I use for my satellite radio only. That is because I have had it for 20yrs and don't want to close it.

I'm very responsible - just don't want debt and the risk associated with it.

If it works for you, then good. To each, his own. I like to keep things simple, no stress, and as few monthly bills as possible. If I want it, I buy it - with a debit card.

That's great. If that's your system, go for it.

But having a credit card does not automatically equal "debt."

You only get into debt if you allow yourself to. The credit card companies don't force you to actually use the card.

You could just as easily buy it with a credit card, earn the rewards, and then pay off your CC bill with the money from your checking account.

It's as easy as 3 mouse clicks once a month.

How silly of me. My bad, I forgot that it's the OT and everyone here is the exception to the rule.

Just googled it: only 35% of credit card users don't carry a balance.

I don't get what you're saying here. You'd be in that percentage that is a retard? Okay, well then I guess it's good you don't have a CC.

The OT, in this case, IS quite the exception. Not because "OT Baller", but because the general demographic on this message board is older, usually educated, etc.

Ever read MoneyTalk? /r/personalfinance? It is pretty common knowledge the pros of a credit card in money discussion groups. That's cool if you don't trust yourself and can admit that, but the pure possession of a credit card is not "bad".

Chase freedom unlimited- use it for everything. Pay it off monthly
Best Buy, Zales, Ashley Furniture,Lowe's-will only use once in a blue moon to keep them open just to have the open credit amount.
Capital one-had forever, never use, don't even have the card anymore.

Never use cash or bankcard anymore, they don't offer buyer protection like my chase card does.

Statistically speaking, credit card use (except for the OT) is a bad thing because it's a tool to accumulate debt. Most people have intentions to pay it off every month, but only 35% actually do.
