We have a fenced in yard, which is nice because it really cuts down on the amount of times we have to walk the dogs. I would feel so guilty leaving them outside all day though...especially if they started barking nonstop without us there to calm them down.

Our lab is home while we work, I'd say from about 7:45 till 4:00 I am off in the summer so she gets to enjoy that time with someone else in the house. We often come home to something destroyed but it is usually if we return home from being gone and have to run back out again. She doesn't like that. We crated her for a while but she got too big and we felt awful crating her all day.

Not longer than 9-5 and that is maybe twice a week. Sometimes I work from home or at least go home for lunch. Mrs. MBP is home up until lunch or comes home right after for most of the time.

Doesnt leave my side from the time I get home until I leave the next morning. Weekends he goes with us just about everywhere.

Wife got me "the whistle", which is like a FitBit for dogs. I can track his movement and activity on my phone. Dude sleeps all day anyway.

Minimum 8 hours. But as soon as I walk in the door I leash him and take him on a walk. Usually go throw the ball, too.

He tends not to eat and drink much when I'm not in the house, so I don't feel too bad. But I try to get home to him fairly quick

Funny how different this thread is

There was a similar thread a week or so ago and every response was "YOU ARE A frickING MONSTER IF YOU LEAVE YOUR DOG ALONE IN THE HOUSE FOR MORE THAN 2 HOURS! KILL YOURSELF"

My Boykin is alone from about 7:30am to about 5:00pm, other than once or twice a week when I go home for lunch. It was a process to get to this point but he's never had an accident in the house. He's a good boy

8-530 most days. dont care cause she sleeps all day. She used to have free reign around the house until i found she had a secret pee spot in the hall we never go down. now she is confined to the living room. a UV light is a must to find shite like that.

My English Bulldog is along for 9 hours a day. He was a little destructive as a puppy so we put him in a kennel during the day and then let him start sleeping with us at night so he wasn't in the kennel for 16 hours a day.

Now, I'm pretty sure he splits those 9 hours he is along upstairs sleeping in our bed, and standing on the back of the couch yelling at the world. We are home, awake with him for probably one hour in the morning, and 6 or 7 hours in the evening before he goes to bed with he, he spends that time in thirds, a third snuggling, a third playing, and a third sleeping against us. I'm pretty sure he sleeps at least 12 hours a day, ever day. maybe as much as 15 hours.

every day.

Not long during the summer since the Mrs. is a teacher. When school is in they are alone 9 hours or so. We have 3 so they are never actually "alone."

Try to bring them most places we go on the weekends (within reason). I love the mixed views I get when bringing a dog to Home Depot, which is a pet friendly store.

That's the only thing that really bothers me is that our Ryno really is alone, by himself. We have no other pets. We do make sure that he has plenty of toys that interest him that do not require a human to throw or tug on (we get him new ones anytime he gets bored with the old ones).

Threads on the OT are usually dictated by the first couple responses. If one of those is some wise arse being a dick then everyone piles on and vice versa

As a company, yes. Just varies by store management. My local H.D. is.

Lowe's was also pet friendly until this year.

Google "pet friendly stores" and you'll be surprised at the amount of places that let you bring a dog.
