Woodlawn has been improving since Drake has been superintendant. The elementary and middle schools in the Woodlawn area score as high as the ones in Livingston and Ascension.
Lee Magnet High a is new STEM focused school that is still accepting 9th and 10th grade students who have a 2.5 GPA.
Baton Rouge Magnet High School is the best high school in the metro area and accepts applications in the late fall.

As far as public schools-- weedlawn is pretty good.
Both livingston and ascension will provide far better options through the public system.

There are no great public schools in BR
Not sure what your definition of "great" is, but my kids received great educations (BRCVPA then Woodlawn MS then BRMHS or McKinley for hs)and all went on to be successful in college. I really liked the amount of school choices available, but it takes parental involvement to put you children in the best places.

I went to Weedlawn. 6 years ago or so. It's probably gotten worse since.
I went to that school 28 years ago....it's definitely gotten worse.

How is Woodlawn High School?
Do the kids play sports? If so then Woodlawn is terrible.
If you're looking for education then it really doesn't matter. All public school kids take the EOC in core classes. Teachers at every school teach the test

No. No, we do not.
In fact, we have no preview of that test. We don't even have access to our district unit tests until a day or two before we give them to our students. We are given a group of standards/objectives at the beginning of each unit. They are vague enough to allow for certain creativity.

Not every class especially in H.S. have an EOC. I teach chemistry now and there is no EOC just a pre and post test I have access to every day. When I taught middle school, I knew whatti teach based on precious years test that are made public. It might not be exact but I Taught to the test. I had stats broken down so far as what percentage each topic was on average for the test so I knew where to spend the time teaching. I much prefer chemistry because I have a lot more freedom what to teach. If there's an EOC for the class you bet the teacher knows what's o it and teaches to it.
As for Woodlawn HS, it is not bad in the grand scheme of EBRPS. In reality Lee Magnet High School and Baton Rouge Magnet High school are the top two and yes they are the same down to the same principal. Then if you get into McKinney Magnet Program that would be third. Woodlawn is fourth.

McKinley
I would think there would be a lot of drugs, crime, pregnancy, and violence at McKinley. Would I be wrong?

Is she looking at Azalea Lakes to get that RD loan?

I'm a teacher too and I know exactly how it works. Teachers that have been teaching long enough know what will most likely be on the test and that's how they structure their lessons.
Heck some schools and school districts make teachers design their test to look like the EOC, but most just use the test generator that comes with the book

Livingston and Ascension parish are possibilities as well.

Yeah for the most part. McKinley tries to be like Scotlandville but they fail miserably at it.
Scotlandville's engineering program is really good

Is city of central too far away? Good schools there and plenty of nice places to live across the income spectrum

Yeahyeah- the middle school I taught at made us design every test like the EOC. It sucked.
Also, I think Woodlawn is above scotlandville based on location. Plus McKinney magnet shares classes with the gifted program there and there's no comparison of those two based on location and fitted program.
Wanted to clear something up I don't believe lee is accepting freshman anymore. According to their sign they are looking for 11th and 12th graders
