I agree that we need more studies to figure out why traffic is so bad
Traffic is so bad because everyone wants a solution but no one wants to deal with any inconvenience in the short term. It's pathetic, but the violently outspoken minority gets way too much play in this.

Well to be fair, if people around here weren't such idiots that they can't be bothered to read traffic signs, it wouldn't be an issue.

Well wtf are they supposed to do if they want to get to LSU? Turn right and go all the way to Lee, get on Highland and then fight that clusterfrick? Do they really expect people to do that?

There was a fender bender on I-10 westbound at the LSU lakes. It happend about 6:15 this morning. I was one of the first through the area and it wasn't much of an accident but it was 4 cars blocking the middle lane and partial of the two outside lanes. Traffic could get around both sides, but it obviously had to crawl around it and look.

It was minor. They coudld have pulled that crap over to the side of the shoulder but I'm certain someone is going to call an ambulance chaser to get their money.

Traffic is so bad because too many people live too far from work/school. Retake Baton Rouge and watch the traffic problems dissipate.

sounds like "they" are trying to fix (help) it, but according to the thread last night, one poster estimates only about 50% of the drivers are using the intersection correctly, causing long queues of traffic on boyd just to wait for people to make illegal maneuvers.

if "they" wouldn't have tried anything, people would complain about that. when something new is attempted, the plan is ignored, and people complain about that too. the public can't be pleased.

Take a different street. Follow the law, not cause a wreck. Crazy ideas, I know.

There are multiple turnarounds on Burbank before you get to Lee. Next excuse please.

No. See above.

but the interstate is 3 lanes now

cities like Greensboro, Dayton, Little Rock, Columbia SC, all cities with same metro population, have interstates with 6 lanes and bypasses and loops.

Waste of money to expand the interstate to 3 lanes. It did nothing for traffic and now we have two gigantic shoulders with 3 lanes, instead of 4 lanes or possibly 5 lanes.

lol see? he probably complained about it only being two lanes before, then after a 3rd is added, he's complaining about that too.

if a loop was built tomorrow, he'd tell you how houston has more loops.

There were a shite ton of people lined up on the Gardere side of Burbank @Lee trying to take the first U-Turn back towards Lee Dr. Anyone know why?

They forced everyone coming from Ben Hur onto Burbank to turn right because there was a bad wreck there about once a day. I think this is a good idea.

If the timing of the lights at W. Parker were about twice as long and they adjusted the timing of the light timing at Jennifer Jean a bunch of the traffic nightmares in the afternoon would go away for those that park in CEBA lot.

It takes me the same amount of time, when school is in, to get to work as it did before.
How did it help?
If it makes you feel better, i can see the difference when school isn't in. It helped in that regard and traffic is better then.

3 lanes is not enough for the amount of people going through Baton Rouge. Neither is 4.

when baton rouge is the 4th largest city in america, i'll say that.
notice how i compared cities with similar metropolitan populations as Baton Rouge, dumbass.

Traffic is still backed up at Denham in the morning and gets better once you cross the amite, just like before.
Traffic still backs up at Airline in the afternoon, and clears up after Oneal, just like before.
