The entirety of the issue with the interstate in BR is that I fricking 10 corridor reduces to 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 fricking lane coming off that god damned bridge.

It helps every fricking day. I drive from NOLA to BR everyday for work, and when that construction was done the trip was infinitely better. Traffic used to back up before Highland, now I don't hit it until College, if at all.

you have no clue what you're talking about.

Which has nothing to do with the traffic today.

And nobody in my fricking post said it did!

He was bitching about the interstate not fixing things. Ya'll were rubbing ya'lls know it all faces in his comment. I merely provided a comment on the traffic as compared to the interstate in BR.

i need to feel better? i'm at peace with my commute. you should try doing the same.

the great irony here is that the public wants more lanes and more roads, and when you present them with a plan to do that (like the loop), they vehemently shoot it down, then go on tigerdroppings and complain about traffic.

Make that 20 (live across town from work), and same. Had no traffic. In fact, Siegan was emptier than usual.

Only issue was some person in a beater truck going 25 the entirety of Highland.

so you're telling me when you leave BR in the afternoon at 5 heading east on I-10, it doesn't back up immediately at the split, and stays backed up until you past Highland, just like before?

I do'nt go that way often, but when i do, that's the scenario.

So it's a useless post today.

And eastbound I10 has nothing to do with what he was bitching about as well.

Traffic still backs up at Airline in the afternoon, and clears up after Oneal, just like before.

Eh, you still had a stoppage at O'Neal. The traffic in that part is flowing pretty well. I would like to see another highway in the long run though.

I drive that way just about every day, and unless there is a wreck traffic is never backed up to the split. The traffic usually starts somewhere around Seigen when there is a wreck though.

Nope, once I pass College it is free and clear until Highland usually. Some days it is backed up between Seigen, and other days (like yesterday) there is no congestion.

The widening has helped traffic immensely, and saying otherwise is foolish.

It starts backing up at Siegen now.

I know goign to 3 lanes made it a little better. I'm just being an arse.

point is, it made it a little better. a little better from one of the worse traffic cities in america isn't much of an improvement.

I don't see the point in having shoulders, or big shoulders. If there's a wreck, they aren't sitting in the shoulder with the cops, b/c if they could, they'd just get off the interstate all together. If the wreck is bad enough, people on both sides of the interstate will stop to see it and traffic is backed up, regardless if it's on the shoulder.

They should have made the median taller so we couldn't see the other side, and they should have made it 4 lanes and make the shoulder smaller. make them just big enough to give you some wiggle room. but i guess you need one shoulder wide enough so emergency vehicles can get to accidents.

That's a design standard set by the DOTD. That design standard is usually adopted from AASHTO, which runs rigorous tests on highway safety. You need the extra pavement to allow vehicles to pull off the travel ways (these vehicles don't have to be involved in accidents...they could be out of fuel, traffic stops, flat tires, patrol vehicles, etc.) and still be safely out of the way of moving vehicles. Usually on 2-lane interstates with a divided median the outside shoulder is 10'. If there is a 3-lane concrete median or closed median interstate, you'll usually have standard 12' inside and outside shoulders.

Rubbernecking is something that will always happen. Whenever there is an accident on the pavement, you will never ever be able to go 70 MPH safely through an accident zone. It's just one of those facts of life.

For some reason the traffic on I-10 was nonexistent headed toward Highland at about 4:15 PM. I don't know why. But if it rains, even a little, and you don't leave work before 4:30, you will definitely be in traffic for over 30-45 minutes on that stretch.

had an idea yesterday or remembered something from years ago.

Burbank was always supposed to be extended south east.

Can't this be done within 3 years to extend down the bayou(behind CCL) and link up to 10 around bluff road? An interchange there would be nice anyhow. What yall think as far as something feasible to help out some traffic in the immediate future. Highland/ Siegen/ Perkins in that area is a total frickjob right now.

Burbank Google Maps
