Please provide me with some insight. For I have provided how I formulated my opinion (not based on my experience, but on the experience of close friends who are more credible on the subject than I). You, however, have only pointed out that you are and engineer from LSU and I am not, and you are right and I am wrong.

And how do you know engineering classes at ULL are easier? I know I'm biased because I went there, but MCHE at ULL wasn't a cake walk.

I have. You've ignored every post of mine that obliterates your formulated opinion.

Again, I've done more than that. You just ignore the posts that make you wrong.

Yall shouldn't have been lumped in with Southern, that's for sure.

This is true. One of my friends though went to LSU for undergrad. He has 3 different learning disorders and found it extremely difficult. Somehow, he got into a prestigious graduate school program at one of the Ivy league Universities mentioned in this thread. He is adamant that the Ivy league was easier than LSU was. Because of their fear of attrition. Yes, the curriculum may be taught differently. Yes they may use harder problems. But, they do hold your hand and help you through it. They force you to go to tutors, and make extra help available. The environment there is conducive to learning.

Nobody said they give you good grades

But, if you can find a way to get into an Ivy League school. Chances are, you will have a smoother road to graduation than at a public state college. The better schools NEED you to graduate. They go out of their way to make you.

You think that has anything to do with the fact that those students who "find a way to get in" at ivy league schools are the upper echelon of high school students? They aren't struggling with staying in school like "T Bob Thibodeaux who graduated with a 2.5 from Hahnville High".

These kids don't struggle to stay in school. They struggle to finish in the top rankings in a class where they are surrounded by the top kids from around the world.

Hibbeler was a baby dog next to Lovonia Theriot.

My daughter could have gone just about anywhere but chose ME at LSU...

She's having a great college experience, summer intership, but the best she'll be graduating with zero debt. The zero debt is mainly due to tops, working part time, and some parental assistance. That may be short sided but I think with today's economic environment she won't feel pressured to take a position she may not be fully comfortable with.

I also like the fact she chose LSU is she'll likely be in the La. and Texas region for career employment and have very accessible contact with family with an hour flight or less than 6hr drive.

You're comparing an undergraduate program to a masters program for the level of support?

Re: Engineering
Asking about LSU's reputation in the job market is not parenting advice. It's gather information about a specific program at a school from those who have been through the process.

Re: Workout
This is weightlifting advice, not parenting advice. I did hours of research and fabricated a workout plan based on that research. a lot of what I read I disregarded as "gym rat mythology" based on my knowledge of physiology garnered through postgraduate education. About 5% of that research consisted of getting input from those on the OT who work out.

Re: 16 yr. old visiting New Orleans
This is advice for someone outside of my family visiting New Orleans for the first time. The first person I asked was my own kid - however, his perspective is skewed because he was born and raised here. Many of the things that tourists would enjoy seem commonplace to my son since he has experienced them his whole life.

Re: MILF neighbor
I asked this about 2 or 3 years after it happened. It was a funny subject for the OT, and elicited a lot of humorous replies.

Do you really think anyone parents based on the OT's opinion? You don't understand how the internet works, do you?

Google search MIT civil engineering tests and look around. Particularly at MIT Open Courseware. Have a gander at the tests then come talk to me.

It's upsetting, we used to be the two that teamed up against everyone else when it came to math/engineering debates. The past two times you have gone to the dark side. What happened?

I actually went to lsu for undergrad school and ull for grad school. The undergrad classes I took at ULL were a joke.. Can't vouch for ME classes because I didn't take any though.

At the end of the year I took FE review sessions and the dynamics one was with hibbeler. He was definitely a beast, you are right.

Just link one. No tests came up on page 12 of the search.
