So he already thinks you're a prick.

Hell, if you're his boss, are you advocating that he should have taken time out of work to fix the flat tire?

I don't really understand your logic to question him using a free service, but it makes even less sense knowing you're his boss.

OP, I take care of a lot of things myself around the house and with my personal vehicles but you can drop the Grandpa Walton* attitude that hard work never spoilt no one.

Do you raise your own vegetables & fruits and livestock? If not, you're doing the same thing you co-worker is doing.

*See how he turned out with his own grandson, no less?

If you've already paid for the service, use it. It may get done faster if he does it himself - roadside assist may take an hour or so to get there....but if you've got the time to spare, why not.

A coworker of mine runs to his car this afternoon to grab lunch and notices he has a flat tire. Realizing he still has a couple of months remaining of the roadside assistance plan that came with purchase of the vehicle, he heads back into our office and calls a towing company to drive out to our parking lot to exchange out the flat tire with his spare. He is 27 years old and more than physically capable of changing out a tire. He said he didn't want to get sweaty. Kinda a prick move if you ask me, even when you consider the towing company is getting paid for the work order.

don't give Hillary no ideas for her jobs program... they'll go around town slashing tires (oops) and then make sure they're the ones who fix them

So, he is using a benefit that came with purchasing a car...and the towing company is getting paid...so the guy changing the tire should be happy to do it. I don't see anything wrong with that.

If he is still at work then it is fine. If it was the end of the day and he decided to sit there and wait for the roadside assistance rather then change the flat and get home sooner I would call him a wimp.

I can easily change a flat, but I agree with him. If it was cool and I wasn't in my work clothes, I would forgo the call

You'll bitch about anything then. If they are doing the tire change, he's available to work for YOU.

He paid for it. Besides, if it weren't for people like him, some hard working person wouldn't have a job.(or at least that job)
