How does the OT avoid burning out?

Lately, I just don't wanna go to work. When I get there, I finish my work load ASAP and play on my phone until someone interupts me with special projects.
Where I'm at is all about grinding. I'm two years ahead of schedule on a 10 year plan, but that still leaves 7 more years of making shite. Tough to handle after making OT money before starting here.
I'm just burnt out. I'va taken a few days off, and if anything, it made it worse.

I just find more shite to do at home and on the weekends. Find yourself things to look forward to outside of work, like a hobby or a trip here and there. For me, this time of year is about hunting season and working in the yard.

Get some cocaine up in the mix.

Get a hobby
Rebuild a car
Hunt
Fish
Golf
Something to unwind for a few hrs or a few days depending on your schedule

We have Chicken sell a limited number of shares to each of the most valuable posters (read: starting with me) and install some meritocracy based on MVP voting for bringing along new posters on the OT.

Do something you love. Money can't buy happiness.

Get another job that makes you happy and allows you to apply your best skill sets. I just left a grinding type job. Good money but no real future and life is too short to be unhappy every day.

So you've only been at this job for a year?

Less than four months. I was promoted from a soul crushing position into another one quite a bit higher.
Still boring, still not enough work.

Biggest mistake of my career was transferring after I decided I was burnt out at job. Was essentially sitting around 8 hours a day. Had everything going in the lab perfectly, great crew, manuals all written and re-written. Cruising. Transferred to the arm-pit of the world and it was down hill for 10 years, till recently.

I accelerate at a normal speed and don't lay on the brakes.

change what you do. its a lot easier getting up in the morning when you go to something that you want to be doing. Ive found that for a little less pay doing something that I like is a whole hell of a lot better than getting paid a little more for something that I hate. The benefits are amazing and it will make you feel better physically and mentally.
also try and take regular vacations. like real ones. where you leave your house.

If you can knock out your work load that quickly, ask for more engaging work when you're finished with your routine tasks.
Nothing is worse than sitting on your phone or computer waiting for 5 o'clock. The day goes buy much quicker if you're occupied. You'll boost your own morale and get noticed by your peers and superiors. Don't sit around and wait for the next task, or you will bore yourself to death.

Sitting around at work and not doing anything is unacceptable in my opinion. Not from you, from your company. What a total waste of your time.

If you've made that much advancement in four months why will it still take 7 years? Stay on the gas and the 10 year plan should become a 3 year plan.

work is life, man
you just got learn to cope with the healthiest way possible
i've learned that exercise and chasing poon to be healthy diversions from the work scene
also, plan and take a awesome vacation.. it could be just you or with buddy or SO, but plan a trip to somewhere awesome and go
i was in the same situation recently because i had worked every single day for the past three years or so with no time off. It wasn't until i took a business trip to the west coast and spent a couple half days roaming around the napa valley that really helped my serotonin

We are overstaffed. I am actually working 5 different positions, but the workload is still nothing.
