How do you stop.someone from throwing their life away for marijuana?

Johnny is trading it all in for wacky weed. Yes the lefthanded cigarettes.
Blessed with NFL talent and would rather puff on the magic dragon. 1st round pick and has more bottles of visine than Td passes.
Instead of running a bootleg he'd rather smoke a hogleg.
How do reach someone like this?

I had a friend once overdose on marijuana needle injectors. Once he died from that, all of my friends stopped using it. I suggest warning them about the risks of marijuana and the potential to easily overdose.

That's why I smoke in the evenings. It helps me sleep and relax after a long day. There's zero chance I could be a wake and bake type. Unless I'm painting or something along those lines, I'm in relaxation mode after I burn.
